Junebug Cafe - Chicago
Junebug Cafe
Description
Junebug blends New Orleans flavors with a cozy coffeehouse vibe on Irving Park Rd. Standout dishes—gumbo, muffaletta and po' boys—and a tasty cafe au lait draw regulars, though beignets and some breakfast items can feel dense or small. Guests note inconsistent service, occasional overcooked proteins, confusing menu labeling and higher prices, plus a removed biscuits‑and‑gravy item. Popular for lunch, takeout and casual work sessions, the spot is lively and convenient but would benefit from clearer menus and steadier kitchen and front‑of‑house consistency.

The new location on Milwaukee is great, a bit lighter and busier. Beignets and biscuits are fantastic. Great coffee too. If I had one complaint, it's a very small one. There's no need to staple the paper to-go bags. They're just destined to tear, especially if you hope to save something for later. Definitely recommend for everyone in the neighborhood and beyond.
This is a wonderful little place to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a cup of coffee, and spend some time reading, studying, or working. The food was tasty, although I found the portions to be somewhat small for my liking. Nonetheless, that won’t stop me from coming back. I highly recommend it if you’re in the area. Give it a try!
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant because they don't pay their employees. They owe money to every worker and refuse to compensate them due to their own financial issues. It's quite frustrating considering I used to think the food was decent. Additionally, the owners take out their frustration on employees who are only making $16 an hour, which is completely unacceptable.
Best fresh beignets in the City. This newer location also has great ambience. Worth a trip.
