I really enjoyed this place; the food was hot fresh and flavorful. Excellent service too. I will definitely spread the word. The seasoning was on point. It's also in a very trendy area. Too damp to enjoy the outdoor seating but it's available. Also a great selection of southern desserts that we didn't try this visit. View all feedback.
What Dominic Pontrelli doesn't like about Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken:
Tenders were fresh and had a nice spice to them, but were pretty dry. The fries and mac and cheese were very good though. Despite the large portions, I don't think it's worth the priceIt also took about 30 minutes to get our food dining in, so definitely get carryout if you're in a hurry View all feedback.
Got some thighs to go. Super easy and fast. This chicken is fantastic hot but I think it sings as cold chicken. Just crazy good stuff!Food: 5/5
Maybe I just haven’t had a ton of fried chicken in my life but this place has me looking no further. The first time I had Gus’s there were actual tears in my eyes. I didn’t know fried chicken could be so good. Fries? Seasoned to absolute perfection. Whatever they are putting in the fries I need the recipe for.Thank you to whoever is in the back kitchen for sneaking me extra pieces of chicken in my doordash orders too
World famous fried chicken…? nahIt wasn’t bad but nothing special. It was just normal average fried chicken. Fast food’s fried chicken can be better.
Well, very very disappointed today. Not only with the quality of food but also with the response of the staff. Went there and got some chicken tenders today and they were incredibly salty. Basically, my blood pressure rose as I simply inhaled these tenders. Which, this is sad to me, because actually I love and adore the tenders from here. But when all you can taste is pure salt.. ok, looks like someone went a lil heavy handed here. So, we said something about it and the woman on staff that we talked to said that she could get us some pieces of fried chicken to make up for it, but responded that the tenders have been salty lately and that even if she got us some more made that it would be just as salty. This is normally a go to place for me but after this experience I just don't feel like I need to do this for awhile.. I would much rather go to the Roost thank you very much.
I went here when I was at Chicago with my boyfriend and his family, and honestly the food was nasty. The soda was super flat, like I had to ask for a root beer because of how nasty and flat my drink was. After that, the food came in and I won’t lie. Everything was nasty. The Mac and cheese has 0 flavor to it. It didn’t even taste like cheese, the pasta was overcooked and it didn’t even fall off the plate. The fries were the only good thing, as it is almost impossible to mess up fries. Than the chicken. The chicken was disgusting. I’ve been here before, after the pandemic. And the food was amazing but I don’t know what changed. The chicken skin was extremely tough, almost rubbery, and the seasoning was funky and the inside was oily. Not to mention the service. As me and my boyfriend are both from Venezuela, all of us were speaking Spanish. So our service was slower than our white counterpart at the table right next to us. We ordered similar things with a similar party as what I could tell and their food came in way sooner compared to us. The waiter refunded to change my drink although it was super flat. My mother in law had the same complaint. And they still refused to change our drink until our protests were heard. Hopefully the service and food will be better. Will not be coming here again!!!!!
