Since its closure in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this section of the Field Museum has undergone renovations and has reopened with enhanced sanitary and safety measures designed to promote a touch-free experience. The new seating area has a reduced capacity, allowing for greater distance between tables and serving stations. However, be prepared for higher prices across the board. View all feedback.
What Novella Crooks dislikes about Explorer Café:
I won't dwell on the fact that everything is overly priced, similar to Disneyland where they take advantage of captive customers and set their prices accordingly. I won't dwell on the fact that everything is overly priced, similar to Disneyland where they take advantage of captive customers and set their prices accordingly. My main concern is that customers have to go to the counter to place their order. If someone wants a salad, they have to navigate through various barriers to get what they want. Additionally, the salads are not properly labeled; they are just hanging outside of plastic containers, which is quite unsanitary. The menu lacks clear labeling for many items as well. Overall, the place feels very poorly organized and haphazardly arranged. The only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one is because the staff was friendly.

For the price or any price, it's just terrible to eat. the pulpit is saltless and simple, the cheese is simply watered down? fries taste as yesterday made and pizza is definitiw cheap and frozen. I'll never leave reviews. I have starved and it was hard to eat?
We were a little skeptical about the caffe in the museum, but it actually ended up eating one of our favorite places in chicago esp. after having spent the whole morning at the museum and wishing a quick break. eating was hot and fresh and the mac and cheese was declared as amazing by the enkel!
