De Pasada - Chicago
De Pasada
Description
This family-run, budget-friendly spot serves hearty Mexican and Middle Eastern comfort food with generous portions, friendly service and fast turnaround. Standouts include carne asada burritos, steak tacos, shawarma and lively salsas, while complimentary chips and a warm atmosphere add appeal. Quality can be uneven — guests report oversalty dishes, chewy meat, missing guacamole, added takeout ingredients and occasional pricing or staff issues — but many locals return for the value and homestyle flavors.

Good rice and beans with average tacos. Pastor and steak are missing a bit of flavor.
Food is good. Service is awesome. The steak tacos are delicious. The super burritos are very filling and large. The chips and salsa are great. The green salsa has a good kick to it and is spicy with flavor. Everything on the menu is made fresh to order. Street parking is available for pay. I would recommend this spot.
First time here. When I entered, Mexican Regional music played, and received fast service as it was not busy. The salsas were reasonable. My favorite was the green. I ordered a Burrito de asada with everything. My favorite thing about it was the beans. The meat was good, but the flavor of it did not stand out for me. Also, the guacamole was somewhat hidden as I did not taste it or find it. Overall, a good experience.
I bought three tacos couple weeks ago they got the order wrong and they got the nerve to price gouge be warned you will pay almost $20 for 3 tacos with no drink. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2 Service: Takeaway Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30
