Description

This neighborhood soul-food spot is beloved for its warm, family-style hospitality and standout plates like smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, collards and a celebrated caramel cake. Friendly service and generous portions keep locals and visitors coming back, though experiences vary: expect occasional inconsistencies such as oversalted sides, canned-tasting yams, undercooked or off-smelling meats and intermittent odor issues. Street parking is available. Ideal for casual, family dining if you tolerate variable quality.

This was my first and last visit here, the green beans tasted as if they emptied a cup of salt in the pot, I could not eat them and the yams was from a can, seem like they just open the can and put them into the container. The only thing that was ok was the corn bread.Save your money.Parking: Parking on the street the day of my order was easy. Not sure on other times.

I found this gem in 2016 when I was working for a company in the neighborhood. Fast forward to Summer 2022 during a visit I noticed some unfamiliar faces in the back and the food did NOT taste the same. Did you hire new management and cooks?

The chicken dinner was a leg quarter, macandcheese, stringbeans and white potatoes. The chicken had a Musty Smell as if it was sour before they cooked it, then cooked it anyway. I'm trying to understand But I can't this is sad to me and the restaurant itself has a Oder problem Please fix this. StopHALF WAY COOKING YOUR MEAT COOK IT ALL THE WAY AND MAKE SURE ITS RIGHT BEFORE YOU SERVE IT TO PEOPLE

I visited for the first time and arrived close to closing time on a Saturday. I ordered the smothered pork chops served over rice, and they were great! The string beans and potatoes were excellent, and the macaroni and cheese was delicious. The collard greens and cabbage were also very flavorful. The staff was friendly and welcoming, so I would rate my experience a solid 5. I will definitely be coming back! Overall, I give the food a 4 out of 5.
