Was John D at Chant a mag?
Okay I love a trendy taco option on the menu so when I saw BBQ duck tacos with pear pico I had to try it. Oh my gosh, it was delicious! I always have high expectations for fusion restaurants, and I was impressed by Chant! Even the decor inside keeps you guessing as to what kind of food you're going to experience but trust me it's a great one! Also staff was incredibly friendly and super quick service as well. What B dislikes about Chant:
REALLY??? This place is at best mediocre. The food, service, and atmosphere are all below average. We had a big family dinner here, and while the appetizer selection was plentiful, everything tasted average. The main course was disappointing—my steak resembled a Salisbury steak smothered in gravy. Who puts gravy on a ribeye steak? The service was also lacking. I had to hunt down our waitress multiple times, and they... View all feedback.
I walked in with no expectations and left truly impressed! The food and service were fantastic! My server, Ana, was brilliant! Overall, it's a great place.
This place has become our go-to spot, reminiscent of The Pit in A Different World and Norm's in Cheers. The service is PHENOMENAL, the food is delicious, and the drinks are fabulous. The only thing I wish they would bring back is the curry shrimp—please don’t change anything else! And especially keep the wonderful Peter at the bar; he is an absolute GEM! We LOVE HIM!
I have never had such a lackluster meal experience until today. We ordered the ribeye steak sandwich/fries , crispy curry catfish, and the quesabirria ramen. Everything lacked flavor. The ingredients in my crispy curry fish dish were fresh but the curry did not taste fresh and seemed jarred. My daughter is 8 and said her ramen was bland. Hubby ordered the pear martini and I had the peach passion martini. The best part of the entire dinner was my peach passion martini. I def won't return here. Nothing excited my tastebuds. However, the ambience and service was decent-nothing that really stood out here either. Overall, I definitely agree with most 3star reviews here. My experience was mediocre, at best.
The Beef short rib dinner is delicious. It is extremely tender and flavorful. This saved the review. Avoid the crab and shrimp dip. Honestly, this should be pulled from the menu. That's how terrible it was. I also ordered the chocolate cake which I did not enjoy. It had a chocolate mousse frosting and raspberry jam, and the menu gave no mention of that. I ordered a Mai tai which was tasty.
I was happy with welcoming service and quickly served food. I would probably say this is a solid 3.5 experience, but a nod to 4 for no negatives. The food was tasty. I really loved the lobster Rangoon. The pad thai was solid and I wouldn't turn down an invite to go back one day.
