Carmine's
4.4 / 5 (5604 reviews)

Description

Carmine's in downtown Chicago offers a mix of average but decent food with good portion sizes, highlighted by the delicious stuffed mushrooms. There were some complaints about subpar service and odd ambiance, but overall, the staff was described as attentive and friendly. The restaurant may benefit from a renovation, but customers seem to keep coming back for the great food, especially the chicken parm and rib eye steak. Vegetarian options are available, and valet parking is recommended. Despite some mixed reviews, Carmine's appears to be a popular choice for those seeking a classic Chicago dining experience.

Overall this place was average for downtown Chicago. The food was decent with good portion sizes. The layout of the restaurant is really weird as big as it is. The service was definitely subpar. We didn’t order drinks and we certainly paid the price. I hate when servers do this.Vegetarian options: YesParking: Valet is the best option

Carmine's is by far one of the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The excitement of the restaurant itself whets your appetite before you even sit down and order authentic traditional Italian dishes cooked the Italian way, including pasta, lamb chops, veal, and New York style strip steak. The wine and drinks with live entertainment was incredible. On the way to O'Hare I wondered when we would meet again. But Sadly I just found out that they are now under reconstruction and will reopen in 15 months .But I am happy to be able to open a new page of memories for the future, while thinking fondly of the good old place filled with memories.

We didn’t have an experience this day since Open Table was still active for Carmines yet the establishment was closed for renovations. We like carmines when we visit Chicago but are not local …. As we were planning to celebrate our daughters college graduation this evening in Chicago I was appalled that either carmines or Open table didn’t turn off the ability to book this restaurant when we made the reservation weeks ago — we’ve never had a problem with this in years of using open table. Some would say I should have called the restaurant but every other restaurant we are dining at this week in Chicago via open table is not a problem…. Never had an open table problem ever…. So shame on Carmines for not turning off the ability to make a reservation. Not a way to run an otherwise good establishment.

Carmine's is a fabulous Italian restaurant! The restaurant has a really cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the food is absolutely delicious. Stopped in for Chicago Restaurant Week and everything we tried was incredible! Not to mention, the staff is incredibly attentive and friendly—truly the icing on the cake! Carmine's is definitely a must-visit spot next time you're in Chicago.

We had the sausage peppers, calamari and veggies platter and all were amazing.Chicken parm was HUGE. Spaghetti meatballs were also big and the rib eye steak was great.I can see why this needs a renovation but the food is great. The staff is attentive friendly and the valet is quick. Can't wait for next year!
