Burton Place - Chicago
Burton Place
Description
Nestled within the bustling nightlife scene, this bar presents a divided experience for patrons. While some enjoy its laid-back vibe, friendly bartenders, and affordable drinks, others find themselves disheartened by strict bouncers, rude staff, and frustrating service. Reports of a chaotic atmosphere with unwelcoming security and inattentive bartenders tarnish its reputation. However, enthusiasts praise its charm and hidden gem status, especially during quieter times, where one can relax with games and good company. Ultimately, the bar may appeal to some but leaves many questioning whether it’s worth the visit at all.

I have always felt nervous to go to bars since I stopped drinking. I decided to check out burtons one day on the way home from work because I always see people having fun in there and a kind server (MARIO) once sent a kind smile my way when I was walking by that made me feel seen. I walked in and saw MARIO and told him about my nerves and how I do not drink anymore and he understood in a way I wish all bartenders would. He didn’t even flinch and gave me the rundown of what they have SANS (without) ALCOHOL. I didn’t feel “strange” or “not normal.” Mario whipped up a VIRGIN mojito for me in no time and spoke to me about wrestling and the Chicago White Sox. I was not a fan of wrestling until I met Mario, but he brought me to the light and made me understand its WHIMSY. Thank you Mario for bringing kindness into my life and making me feel accepted. This is an Old Town joint. Tap beer tasted like ketchup. TV playing MLB network in February. Bathrooms look like a murder scene. Other than that...not a bad place. Price per person: $10–20 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
Burton Place recently got new owners. Same guys that run City Nikki’s and Mother Hubbards. Had an awesome time. Will be making it our local go to Old Town bar. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The servers are friendly, and there's a good variety on the menu. However, the clientele can be a bit rough.
