Description
**A Culinary Journey Through Puerto Rican Flavors**
Nestled in Chicago, this Puerto Rican restaurant elicits mixed feelings from diners. While some are enamored with the jibaritos and the perfectly fried alcapurrias, others lament the decline in food quality and service over time. Dishes like carne frita and chuleta have drawn criticism for dryness and blandness, with the ambiance feeling weary and uninviting. Despite these inconsistencies, loyal patrons return for the flavorful staples and fresh preparations. Though opinions vary widely, the quest for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine continues, with many hoping for improvements in both the menu offerings and the overall dining experience.

This is a fantastic spot for enjoying delicious Puerto Rican cuisine and having a great conversation, unlike some other restaurants that can be too noisy.
I ordered tostones, but they were really dry and hard. The pork chops for dinner had no flavor, while the pollo guisao was just okay.
This is my go-to place for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine! The food is delicious, clean, and made fresh to order. I always order the Bistec Encebollado with rice, accompanied by Maduros and some Alcapurrias for the ride home. Don't forget to try the hot sauce!
This restaurant used to be great, but it’s really gone downhill. It's shocking that they now charge a la carte for everything, especially when the food has lost its quality. For instance, you actually have the nerve to charge extra for rice that tastes like dish soap, and it doesn’t even come with the jibarito? Speaking of the jibarito, the meat is bland, and the garlic on top of the plantain tastes like cheap garlic powder and is overly salty. Paying $7.95 for a jibarito, plus $3 for rice and $2 for a drink is just ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and save your money; head over to El Picosito or Mas Jibarito instead.
As a Puerto Rican, I'm always on the lookout for good, authentic, homemade Puerto Rican food in Chicago. While this place is not terrible, it wasn't my top choice. The food was mediocre and the restaurant itself seemed a bit worn down. The tables had torn plastic covers and felt greasy. Additionally, the service didn't have the warmth that Puerto Ricans are known for. Overall, it was quite disappointing.
