What Jena Luettgen doesn't like about Big Kids:
The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly and provided excellent service. However, the food was disappointing and lacked flavor. It did not meet our expectations, especially considering it was opened by the renowned chef of Blackbird. The special of the day was not made in-house, but instead purchased from elsewhere. Overall, we left feeling disappointed and a bit perplexed. View all feedback.
I discovered this restaurant when the Logan Square market was open. The friendly staff quickly seated me, but unfortunately, they were out of grilled cheese when I visited, which was disappointing. However, I ended up trying another delicious meal that I really enjoyed. I would give it a 4 out of 5 rating because they made me wait a long time for the check, but overall, it's a great spot.
This restaurant has a fun and laid-back atmosphere with a nostalgic 90s vibe. The menu is inspired by school lunches and kids meals but the food is amazing. The space torpedo sandwich, featuring a turkey sandwich with pasta salad and delicious sauce, is a must-try. If you're lucky, you may get to try their unique twist on boscoe sticks, like flamin hot Cheeto boscoes with celery salt dipping sauce. I hope they bring back this item more often! The drinks are also great and reasonably priced. I recommend trying the Grandma's House raspberry cocktail or the Tang drink. The restaurant is decorated with Nickelodeon toys, Britney Spears posters, and an N64 in the back, playing music from Space Jam and other favorite 80s movies. Overall, it's a cool spot with a great vibe.
I have never been to a restaurant that is as welcoming, consistent, and always plays great music like this one. It is a small 90s themed bar with a diverse menu of drinks and food, including options for vegans. I highly recommend trying it out if you are open to the above description.
This place is really fun!! I got the Tang mezcal cocktail which ruled. The beyond burger is sort of like a giant delicious flat Big Mac with the yummy sauce, classic cheese, and shredded lettuce…. So good. My boyfriend got the Amy Nettie chicken sandwich which he also liked, but, !!! WARNING- the sauce on this sandwich was extremely garlicky to a point that he has had the worst garlic breath of his life for more than 12 hours now with multiple teeth brushing and consuming an almost entire pack of mints. We hope to return to Big Kids soon!! But I will personally ensure that he skips this particular sandwich next time…
I was pleasantly surprised by how good the burger was! I had low expectations since it's a quirky sandwich spot, but it was cooked perfectly, with delicious cheese and sauce, and very juicy. I would definitely return for it.
