Feedback
Nestled on Taylor Street, Bascule offers a delightful culinary experience that keeps diners coming back for more. Guests rave about the exceptional food, from juicy chicken and flavorful meatballs to innovative dishes like shrimp and quinoa salad and creative flatbreads. The welcoming atmosphere is matched by attentive service, with knowledgeable staff eager to guide patrons through an impressive, approachable wine list. Signature drinks, like a Riesling cocktail with a peach ice cube, complement the diverse menu perfectly. However, recent news of the restaurant's permanent closure has left loyal customers disappointed, as it was a gem in the local dining scene.
The food was fantastic as well! We tried two buns: one with pulled pork and the other with meatballs—those meatballs were so good, you'd think someone's Italian grandmother was in the kitchen! We also had the flatbread of the day, topped with poached pear, arugula, and feta cheese, which was delicious, and a shrimp and quinoa salad that was excellent too. We left feeling happy and excited to return!
We have visited Bascule many times, but it seems that the restaurant is now permanently closed and is no longer available on OpenTable. This is quite disappointing. The food was excellent, and the drinks were very good. It was one of the best dining options on Taylor Street near UIC.
The entire meal was delightful, and the service was exceptional—complete with an outstanding wine recommendation. The atmosphere was unique and inviting.
I don't know how they do it, but it's the juiciest, most delicious chicken ever made. Flatbread was delicious and appropriately sized for 2. Waiter recommended a really delicious and reasonably priced glass of wine. Dessert was a simple chocolate brownie somehow cooked to ooey-gooey perfection. Can't wait to go back!
Great wine list. Excellent service. Small plates were very good. Will be back.
