Azucar - Chicago
Azucar
Description
Tucked a block off 26th in Chicago, this humble, family-run ice cream shop churns homemade, budget-friendly scoops and sorbets—try elote, avocado, mangonada and fresh fruit flavors—served with friendly service and a cozy, community vibe. Small but welcoming, it’s ideal for summer hangs or a walk-and-eat treat. Expect lively crowds at peak times; the shop is cash-only, doesn’t offer gelato, and can be noisy from equipment, but the quality and history make it a neighborhood favorite.

I absolutely adore this little hidden gem! I highly recommend trying the elote and avocado ice cream flavors. I haven't tried the spicy mango yet, but that's fine since I'll definitely be coming back for more. This spot is also perfect for hanging out with friends during the summer, as there's plenty of seating available.
The ice cream here is fantastic, with an impressive selection of flavors! Don't miss the corn flavor—it's truly extraordinary!
The ice cream here is simply the best! It’s perfection in every scoop. Witnessing this family’s journey from humble beginnings to owning their own ice cream shop is truly inspiring. They remain so humble and never forget their loyal customers!
We’ve been going here since it opened! It’s our favorite neveria. The icecream is homemade and in my opinion the best in the Chicagoland area. Highly recommend
