Was Bossu at Aloha Eats a mag?
The food was so good and well worth the wait. It is definitely made-to-order. I had the chicken katsu which was crunchy and flavorful. My sister got the mix plate and was as equally impressed (unfortunately I didn't get a picture of hers). The cashier was friendly and helpful. I will certainly be back the next time I'm in Chicago. What Amy dislikes about Aloha Eats:
Waited 30 minutes for a combo box (chicken katsu and beef) and the chicken katsu wasn’t even hot! What’s the point of the long wait if you premake the food? Also, the cashier was talking on the phone with a friend and not taking care of the customers. Someone came in and had to wait for her to finish texting. View all feedback.

My favorite spot. I would frequent here multiple times a month. The portions are generous so a normal meal can feed 2 or one very hungry person. Highly recommend
The best Hawaiian food I’ve ever had. Crazy expensive tho, but worth it.
Katsu is really good, just that it is slightly thin from my liking
Perfect reminder of Hawaii right down to the aloha time they have a sign that says if you have a time crunch maybe this ain’t the spot for ya but that sign probably needs to be bigger or easier for staff to direct unruly customers to Happy 20th anniversary!!!
A cute spot for low-key Hawaiian food. Tried the loco moco, spam musubi, and pork katsu bbq beef combo—the food was okay. The wait during lunch was a bit long. It’s an option to consider if you’re in the area and want something casual.
Aloha Eats in Chicago offers consistent, well-prepared Hawaiian comfort BBQ food staples that remind diners of flavors from back home. The menu is extensive and interesting, avoiding Americanized stereotypes of Hawaiian cuisine. Dishes like chicken katsu, mix plates, spam musubi, and pork katsu curry are standouts. The Hurricane fries are a must-try, and their drinks are delicious without being overly sweet. Generous portions and friendly staff make dining here a delightful experience. Even though the wait can sometimes be long, it's well worth it for the exceptional food. With flexible ordering options and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Aloha Eats is a top choice for flavorful Hawaiian food in Chicago.

Just like I remembered it almost a decade ago. A must visit for when you come to Chicago. I'm a big fan of the chicken katsu and curry sauce. The rice is incredibly soft and goes very well with the macaroni salad. I also tried the spam musubi katsu for the first time here and I was not a fan. It did not have a good rice to meat ratio and was very dry. Other than that, I recommend their other meat rice dishes.
Super tasty katsu! Would go often if I lived there!
I’ve been obsessed with this place since 2005. I remain faithful thru 2022. Reminds me of rez food (contemporary Native American). My favorite is Spam musubi, chicken katsu and the macaroni salad. Be warned the musubi is way more filling than it looks.
It's always awesome to find island style plate lunches since we live so far away from our island home. Staff was great, food was awesome. We ordered saimin to eat there and ordered plate lunches to go for dinner at our hotel.
Best spam I have ever had!! First time going and I am HOOKED. Small but a lovely spot.

Over all 8/10I had the Spam musubi ???(use your imagination!!! , and a burger ? . It was my first time trying a musubi and it was pleasantly satisfying. Burger was a no for me. But the service was top notch, very friendly, attentive ? ?Food: 4/5
I've had Hawaiian food before, but this was really good. I had the chicken katsu mix and masubi (probably spelling it wrong). The short ribs were really good, and the katsu was fried perfectly. I had never had spam before and was interested in the masubi. It was really good! It wasn't as salty as I heard spam was. I actually ordered from them again on doordash and tried the double chicken, and the teriyaki chicken was good as well!
I ordered the barbecue chicken lunch plate and it was really good. It came with rice and pasta salad. I also got their Pineapple orange drink. The brand on the can was Aloha maid. I'd definitely come back here againFood: 4/5
Nothing fancy, but just authentic and welcoming, and owner IS from Hawaii, not a chain or a franchise
Aloha Eats is good, not amazing. The chicken katsu, while not my favorite ever, was yummy and I really enjoyed the macaroni salad. I thought for the price that the portion seemed pretty reasonable (for the lunch plate). I couldn't finish the chicken, ate 95% of the rice, and devoured the macaroni salad. My big qualm comes in with the use of styrofoam take out containers and plastic cutlery even when eating in. I know it makes life easier as you don't need to clean dishes ... but there are other options that exist that are better.

First time diner, stopped here for lunch. We ordered chicken/beef combo, Pork/beef combo meals and spam musubi. That's the Spam Sushi type roll. The food is delicious! The restaurant seems to have a great turnaround. The service from the young lady behind the counter was pleasant, knowledgeable and patient. When I'm in the area, this is a must stop.
Came here many years ago without really knowing the city and was so excited to stumble upon it after moving to the area! This place has not changed at all in the best way. The food is still just as fresh and different! I love this place because it explicitly says it does not serve pineapple or poke… the Americanized stereotypes of Hawaiian cuisine. It does, however, boast a huge menu of interesting dishes and sauces! The tofu katsu is breaded/fried and comes with a delicious sweet/tangy sauce. The mochiko chicken has a really nice texture (doesn’t taste too fried more like broasted) and is really good with a side of teriyaki sauce. The BBQ chicken is grilled and that has great flavor! Really loved the hurricane fries (don’t skip), the Tofu Katsu, Mochiko Chicken, and the Shrimp with BBQ chicken plate (not pictured)!!
Fantastic experience and delicious food. The menu is extensive and if you haven’t been to Hawaii (like me) make sure to ask questions. We got the hurricane fries, pork katsu curry, spam loco moco and spam katsu musubi. Hurricane fries were delicious and a decently sized portion. The sauce X furikake combo straight slapped. Pork katsu was delicious and honestly PLENTIFUL. I mean we’re talking like 2/3 meals no joke. I ordered a side of curry and gravy. Curry was on the spicier end and tbh was my favorite. The gravy was also very good, tangy but on the sweeter side. Wish they could do half half on the katsu but it’s served on the side. Loco Moco was good and looked delicious. Didn’t try it personally so can’t say a lot more ha. The drinks were fantastic. I mean truly delicious in flavor but not overwhelmingly sweet like most sodas. Also as my friend said, the spam is “literally a block of rice” so don’t order it as a side thinking it’ll be tiny . Will definitely be back and this time, hopefully try some of the less fried stuff on the menu ha
The absolute best. They are very flexible with your order (all mac salad, all the time) and though delivery doesn't always go well, they will make things right. They have very generous portions and wonderful staff and I love everything about them. The BBQ mix plate is easily three meals if you make more rice at home. Other plate lunches are at least two meals. Mahalo!
