Located in Evanston, Alexander's Restaurant evokes nostalgia for many, blending a classic diner vibe with a fresh, contemporary atmosphere. The menu shines in breakfast offerings, highlighted by the savory chorizo and cheddar omelet, Athenian chicken, and generous portions of Greek specialties that keep patrons coming back. Friendly service adds to the welcoming ambiance, though the dinner menu may not impress as much as breakfast. While some patrons reminisce about old favorites no longer served, today’s diners will appreciate the quality and consistency that this beloved establishment continues to offer, making it a must-visit for breakfast enthusiasts.

Consistently great! If you want delicious diner food, this is the place to go. The prices are fair, the service is welcoming, and, most importantly, the food is tasty. I tried the chorizo and cheddar omelet recently and it was absolutely perfect. View all feedback.

Located in Edgewater, this 60-year-old restaurant is a classic diner with comfortable booths and counter seating. I ordered the baked beef with fries and salad. The sandwich was a bit dry, but it was generously filled with dressing. The fries were crispy and delicious, and the salad with Italian dressing was very generous. My companion tried the chicken Philly sandwich with gravy and lentil soup, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I found the lentil soup to be a bit too tomato-based and thick for my liking. Overall, I would have given this restaurant only three stars for this particular visit, but the attentive service from the staff earned it a fourth star. I will definitely be returning.

George, Bertha, and their son Louie were the owners of the restaurant located on Clark Street and Granville Avenue back in 1977-1984. I had high hopes of reliving the nostalgia of my childhood through their food. However, the taste and quality of the dishes were not up to par with what I remembered. Most of the signature dishes like goulash, pink marina suppe, Greek fish, and bark stew were no longer on the menu. The restaurant seemed to prioritize a trendy and hip atmosphere over the quality of their food, which was disappointing. If that's your vibe, then go ahead and enjoy it. On a positive note, Rosie, the daytime and evening waitress, and my mother, who worked part-time there, were the only familiar faces that remained. It's sad to see that only the name of the restaurant and a few dishes were retained.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic and has always been consistently great. It offers a nostalgic experience on the north side of Chicago, surrounded by busy commuters and shops. The customer service is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. They even have grits available upon request.

Called in an order for carry out. The woman on the phone was very friendly and asked me plenty of questions in regards to my food order. The food was very good and the portion size was awesome. I highly recommend. Thank you for the great start to my day.
