Wonderful experience all around. Will totally come back. If I lived close by, I’d come all the time. Yuca con mojo was pretty good with the garlic sauce. Ropa vieja sandwich was absolutely delicious. A bit messy but deep rich flavors on lovely mayo-ed bread. I could eat this all day. Want to try the Cubano and lechon asada in the future. The coconut empanada for desert had a crunchy shell. What Katherine Mettam dislikes about 1492 Cuban Fusion Cafe:
I have no idea how this place has 5 stars. We ordered delivery and ordered masas de puerco, lechón, and skirt steak as entrees. 3 empanadas from the appetizer menu plus 1 extra empanada, a side of white rice and a side of tostones. The masas de puerco were inedible. They were over fried, dry and tasteless. Usually masas de puerco are crunchy on the inside with a soft tender inside. This was not that. This at best was... The food was fantastic at this restaurant. It had a fun family-friendly atmosphere and the food and drinks were delicious. The staff was polite and attentive. I highly recommend this place.
The food was awesome, you cannot go wrong with any sandwhich or coffee on the menu. The appetizers could have used some salt or hot sauce, but were also really good. The service was FANTASTIC, they were very careful with my nut allergy. And the atmosphere definitely felt family owned and loved. Keep that in mind and have patience if they get busy because It's worth it.
Without a doubt the food is delicious, the service is not so good, the guys leave you your order and as quickly as you want to order something else they are already at the counter, but not even that stops me from wanting to return a thousand times more
The food was spot on felt like the best of Calle Ocho. Our waitress was not too friendly. The owner and the other young man who was waiting tables were very attentive and helpful. I hope the owner is able to give her a pep talk because this place is a neighborhood GEM.
Very good place, super nice atmosphere, attention, and exquisite food. Cuban food feels like home, blessings. Super recommended for Cubans or anyone who wants to try delicious Cuban food. ache
Cuban Fusion Café transports diners to a vibrant culinary paradise through its authentic flavors and lively atmosphere. Guests rave about the creamy mango smoothies and the delectable pollo guantanamo, featuring tender grilled chicken in a uniquely crafted sauce. The black beans, slow-cooked for hours, are irresistible alongside flavorful rice. While some dishes may vary in quality, the standout ropa vieja sandwich and yuca con mojo attract customers back for more. Friendly service complements the inviting ambiance, making this a beloved spot for both casual meals and special celebrations. A must-visit for comfort food lovers!.

Eating is so secret! the feeling of the place is not its typical restaurant in chicago. there is no sign that we have not ordered in the past and every time we are happy. the garlic sauce is perfect to do everything. this place has a special place in my heart. amazing. just amazing. do they go to a date, bring them friends, the mood never dies?
Eating is delicious! I especially love their steak sandwiches with a cup of coffee. the entrees are prepared with elegance and Cuban flair. the desserts are great. hands down one of my favorite restaurants in chicago. I recommend this delicious fusion of aromen to perfection!
Melany made our jubilee dinner all the more unforgettable. great service, friendly, easy to go, eating was delicious. a book of positive food on this device could write back. 5 stars all day.
So we visited the Cuban fusionscafé yesterday, and as soon as we walked in the restaurant, the aromen danced from the kitchen to the Cuban beat, played in the background and landed directly on our tongues. we knew we made a good decision before we even saw the menu. we started with a mango milkshake. they were more like creamy mango smoothies. they seemed to be mixed with an ice and cream mixture that was absolutely delicious. the pollo guantanamo was so tasteful. the grilled chicken was tender and tenderly cooked in the sauce. I can't tell them how the red sauce was prepared. but the taste was nowhere near, for which I prepared my palette. they prepared to exclude the bitterness of the tomato. the sweet paprika and swirling created the perfect trifecta. there was a unique taste mixed in the sauce that made it even more special. the black beans had so much taste. they took their time to cook them for at least 10 hours. there were meat pieces and a pronounced taste that made them irresistible over the rice. chuletas ahumadas was absolutely delicious. the pork we chops so tender and the smoked taste was not exaggerated as bbq. It was a little more than subtle and well paired with the yellow rice. the yellow rice had pieces of meat and spiced through and was covered with avocado. I couldn't stop it. the fried green curtains were perfectly boiled and paired with two different creamy sauces that went well with the whole plate. I recommend the Cuban fusion caffe anyone looking for comfort eating with different aromes for any type of gaumen.
This was my first time trying Cuban cuisine and Claudia was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the menu. The Ropa Vieja was delicious and I also enjoyed the fried yuca with garlic sauce. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant.

This was my first time here as well as my first time trying authentic Cuban food, and it was tastyyy The fried sweet plantains are something you wanna give a try. Pleasantly, polite and attentive service. I must say, I felt a bit lost and that things were in a rush when having the menu explained to me or when I had a question about the menu, I sensed a bit of annoyance coming from my waitress—they definitely need more staff because the only 2 waitresses that were on the floor definitely seemed understaffed and overwhelmed trying to handle seating, answering the phone, getting the food, taking the orders etc etc all by themselves. Other than that, I enjoyed this meal and I will be back for sure. Thank you so much.
This restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and is truly authentic. The service is excellent and all the staff are very polite. However, I personally found that the food was not very juicy and lacked flavor. I also noticed that the sauces seemed to be store-bought.
This Cuban restaurant is a sensation! I would give it a 5/5 rating for the food, price, service, and presentation. We started with appetizers including fried cassava, cassava in garlic sauce, empanadas, and plantain chips, all of which were served in generous portions. For our main course, we enjoyed dishes such as ropa vieja (beef), pollo asado, and the 1492 special (soup half-sandwich). The food was exceptional and the best Cuban cuisine we have tried in Chicago so far. The service was attentive and the staff was helpful in suggesting side pairings for our meals. We will definitely be returning for group outings. Thank you!
Melany enhanced our anniversary lunch and made it even more special. The service was excellent, she was friendly and relaxed, and the food was delicious. We could write a whole book of positive feedback about this restaurant. A 5-star experience all around.
It was good and not too sweet, safe but not nothing spectacular. Beautiful space with art all around and service was super friendly, always coming to see how we were doing without feeling intrusive. Came for a Sunday lunch and space was busy but not crowded. This place and cafecito are both rock solid.
