I regulary go eat here and have never been disappointed. Price/quality ratio is one of the best in the region. Portions are large enough, plates nicely presented and staff is very kind. Reservations are strongly recommended! This place is great for outside diner in summer. Enjoy it with your loved one or with friends. View all feedback.
What Cornelia Baumgartner doesn't like about La Sarcelle:
the menu of the dishes was drastically reduced to finally offer only standard dishes. the number of tables on the outside has, however, greatly increased with a very unpleasant and cozy service. and management doesn't care. damage to the framework but the expenditure is not worth it. All foods are nice and especialy the tuna. The Terasse offer a very nice view on the Neuchâtel Lake.
We were staying at one of the boats at the port, and stopped by La Sarcelle for dinner. Given we were early, the host still accommodated us by letting us in and served us beer and hot chocloate for the kids. We then had multiple items for dinner, all of which were good. The only hitch is that English is not a well spoken language so we had to struggle with our conversations and understanding the menu.
Chicken was raw. Service to slow. Badly organized. We complained about the raw blody chicken. No reaction.
The location is amazing, with such a location I do hope this place is a gold mine. You will have to park at the beginning of the road, just below the train station, cars cannot reach the restaurant. But it is a small walk that you will appreciate after the meal. The place was quite crowded when we came, but there is plenty of staff, I have seen busier places run smoother with less staff. This is to say that service is friendly, you can see that they are really trying, but they are not well organized and prone to panicking, moving a lot of air but not doing a lot of work. We were not in any hurry but we waited quite a lot and so did much of the customers. What is clearly lacking is proper organization and calm and efficient management. The menu is absolutely tiny, so I do recommend you check online before going, because if you don't find anything you like, you will not have lots of options. I took an octopus salad for a starter, the taste was good, but the octopus was quite rubbery. I know that Switzerland is far from the sea, but I managed to eat seafood that wasn't so rubbery before. Then I had a beef tartar and my wife took perch fillets. Presentation is very well done. I was asked if I wanted my tartar spicy, agreed because I like it hot, It came directly without any opportunity to try and correct the seasoning and it was quite hot. Ok for me, I like it hot, but if this is the way it is served usually, I fear that some people might not appreciate the surprise. The perch fillets were ok, maybe just a bit dry. We the had desserts, I took a creme brulee and my wife had an iced coffee. Both desserts had a very good taste. All in all it was definitely not a bad experience, but it was not great. So considering the price, I don't think I will go back there anytime soon. It is quite sad because this place has such a huge potential. If their service could be a bit sharper, their menu slightly larger and overall quality just a bit brighter, this place would be an absolute must.
Great location with a view of Lake Neuchâtel. The day was warm so we chose to sit outside. The menu had a great choice of different dishes and desserts. The pasta was a little undercooked for my liking but delicious. A bonus was being able to walk off our lunch walking around part of the lake.
