We’ve not been for ages and we were delighted with our dinner at the Wagon and Horses. I think it’s under new management and you can tell. It’s seems more organised and the team provided the best service. Fish and chips were hard to be beaten with a decent pint of beer. Will not leave so long to our next visit. Thanks. What PeterFifty doesn't like about Wagon And Horses:
Came for lunch (on a Monday) just two other tables mid afternoon occupied. Poor welcome and, presumed manager, sat at the bar and shown no interest in engaging with customers. Ordered drinks and decided on our menu items went to place our order only to be told that both items we had hoped to ordered (fish and the pie) were not available understand items may not always be available, but tell customers when you hand th... Really great venue and load of potential but the food was really disappointing. Firstly no welcome when we walked in (no one at the restaurant) then walked to the bar and was ignored for a few mins, but fine it’s a busy time of year. Waited a while for food to arrive and we were all disappointed when it did. Starters were actually ok but the mains were really underwhelming. We would have given feedback, but were never asked. Real shame, The venue is great
Called in on the off chance just for a bite to eat. Lovely food. Served in a friendly manner by Owen. Thank you.
My friends and I visited the Waggon and Horses pub for the first time last night. Despite the wild and stormy weather, the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, with beautiful Christmas decorations and a cozy fireplace. The staff were friendly and seated us promptly. While the service was generally good, there was a delay in taking our food orders. Unfortunately, the food itself was quite disappointing. The Salt and Pepper Calamari was lacking in quantity and flavor, and the Sriracha Mayonnaise was bland. The Classic 'C&B' Burger was also underwhelming, with dry and tasteless elements. The fries were greasy and lacked substance. There was little conversation among us as we ate, which is unusual for our group. I opted for coffee while others tried the desserts, which were limited in choice. The Chocolate Brownie was the most enjoyable option. Despite the beautifully refurbished venue, the quality of the food was a letdown. I rarely give negative reviews, but I felt it was necessary to provide detailed feedback. Hopefully, the Waggon and Horses can improve their menu to match the lovely ambiance of the pub. There are many other dining options available, and I have previously given a five-star review to another Robinson pub. I truly hope to see improvements at this location in the future.
The food and drinks were fantastic, and the service was excellent. The pub was clean and met high standards, with a great variety of options on the menu.
The restaurant is located on a busy main road. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. I stayed here with a group of couples for an overnight bed and breakfast booking. Unfortunately, we were informed abruptly at check-in that breakfast would not be provided, and we were not contacted beforehand. Breakfast was the main reason we chose to stay here, as we had enjoyed it at other Robinsons locations in the past. At check-out, there was no one available to return our keys to.
