Thai 99 - Chesapeake
Thai 99
Description
Tucked in a modest strip mall in Chesapeake, this unassuming Thai eatery consistently delivers bold, authentic flavors—highlighted by a standout green curry, fresh spring rolls and classic Thai iced tea. Portions are generous and good value; service is friendly and fast under owner Manny. Spice levels run hot—order cautiously—and takeout is popular with locals. The setting is casual and the exterior parking area can feel rundown, but most diners praise the food's consistency and genuine taste.

Just ordered take out for the first time from this place and was nervous because I've only ever ordered Thai from one other place. So delicious! Very friendly owner. Was a little surprised at the price, until I saw how huge the portion was! Made 4 meals out of it and plan on stopping by another day this week during my lunch break. So glad I work right around the corner.
Great flavor. Very friendly staff. Fresh and genuine Thai food. Be cautious on your spice level selection- 5 is plenty hot. 10 is thermonuclear. Park to the left away from the corner business as there is lots of foot traffic there.
Disgusting and a waste of money. Would leave zero stars if that was an option. This is a small Thai place we wanted to try as a change up from our normal place in Kempsville, we were even willing to overlook the run down shopping center with garbage all over the parking lot. We got pad Thai that was essentially inedible. They only seasoned with extreme spices to create the appearance of spicy Thai food. Poor customer service all around, and I would never return to this place again.
This is the best Thai restaurant in Chesapeake. I’m from Hawaii and used to authentic Thai food. It’s farthest from us, but worth the drive. The green curry has amazing flavor. The fresh spring rolls are also delicious. And don’t forget to wash it down with a Thai iced tea. The only downside is they no longer carry sticky rice, but still deserves 5 stars because the flavor of the curry outshines the other Thai restaurants.
I have eaten at this Thai restaurant through its many iterations over the last decade. Through its many owners it has always changed appearance but the food quality has always been high. The new guy, Manny takes Thai Cuisine seriously and has always impressed us. My wife and I eat Thai all over the country as we travel. The food here never disappoints. There may be some Thai restaurants that serve certain dishes better, but overall I would not hesitate to recommend Thai Spice. Service is polite
