That was a wonderful find! A sweet, modern rest with good food and great service. Portions are generous. The fried mushroom cups were delicious and the lamb and frog legs were excellent. The cook actually came out to see how we did our... meal definitely a nice touch! They have a limited but completely acceptable wine list. The parking lot is usually overcrowded, which is a witness to the overall quality of this oper... View all feedback.
What Chaya Smitham doesn't like about Restaurant Le St-Theodore:
On est arrivé a 17:30 et a 18:45 l'entrée n'était pas encore servit. Propose des mets haut de gamme, mais sans l'être.Très normal comme resto. Tu te sers ton vin toi même, tu dois demander de l'eau, tu dois demander du pain, tu dois leur rappeller qu'ils t'ont oublié... View all feedback.
New to the area, we were looking for a fast food restaurant and from the outside the St Theodore looked like the typical dinner that you'd find in cottage country. As soon as we walked in, we were surprised to see that it was well decorated and seemed a little bit more upscale than what we were looking for. The prices were a little high but we decided to try it out anyway and made this our expensive restaurant outing of the month. It was about 1pm on a Sunday, and the place was completely empty apart from a table in a corner where a family of 5 was sitting. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us, as she was too busy chatting with the only other customers, who appeared to be her friends. When she finally got around to greeting us, we were shocked to find out that she was the owner (considering that in her position she should have paid attention to us much sooner). We asked if we could sit by the back windows, a section of the restaurant with a very nice view over a valley and mountains, but we were told that the section was closed. We were shown to the first table next to the door. This was rather disappointing and we couldn't figure out why they wouldn't let us pick our own spot when the restaurant was practically empty. We ordered a poutine appetizer and split a margaretta pizza, which the owner raved about. It took another 10 minutes just for our drinks to reach us, as the owner was chatting up with her table of friends again. We could not avoid overhearing her talk about how amazing her pizza was and that a previous customer, who had told her that it wasn't good, had no taste and that people like that weren't welcomed in her establishment. Soon the table finished and proceeded to the cash register by the door where we were sitting. We were hoping this would end the loud talking, once they were gone. But the owner continued taking with them for another 20 minutes at the register. It was loud and obnoxious and my girlfriend and I had to talk into each other's ears just to hear each other. A typical situation you'd expect in a bar or a club on a Friday night, but not in a restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. When the family finally left, the owner turned to us and realized that we were still there and waiting for our food. She awkwardly apologized and said she would go see where our food was at. When we got our poutine and pizza, it was another disappointment. The fries looked delicious, the typical dark brown, diner-style fries, but these were dry and overcooked. The pizza was one of the worse pizza I've ever eaten. The crust was hard and hollow when you bit into it. The cheese they used was tasteless and the tomato sauce was bitter (possibly from using canned diced tomatoes). And then came the most insulting and disrespectful thing a restaurant could do. They started putting up chairs on the tables and mopping the floor. We were the only table with chairs still on the floor. We of course asked if they were closing soon and if we had to go but the owner reassured us and said they were open until later the evening. But no explanation was given as to why they were moping the floors while we were trying to eat.On a positive note however, they took credit and debit cards as methods of payment, a sort of novelty in cottage country. We were happy about that. But with the terrible experience and average food, we certainly will never be going back.
This is our number one restaurant for our weekly bacons and eggs breakfast! Wonderfull decor and great service!
