fabulous eating in this restaurant and great service. dogs are allowed in the 'bar area, but intentional. with wooden floors and lower deck it can be very loud. many quieter areas without the dog. View all feedback.
What Holger Geisler doesn't like about The Running Mare:
Staff friendly but busy. Usually have a fair/good meal here. It's local which is why we keep coming back we have good times or ok times. This was just ok. The booking app we used hadn't told the restaurant of our booking which is really unsatisfactory. The veg option tart was not as expected therefore wasn't enjoyed. The roast dinners lacked sufficient heat and presentation was poor 2 halfs of hard carrots parsnips o... View all feedback.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. The portions were generous and satisfying.
The food was amazing, the drinks were fabulous, and the service was FANTASTIC. Our server, Lucy Anne, was superb - she checked on us constantly, made sure we were well taken care of, and even let us share a laugh. Thank you so much!
I had lunch with my partner at this restaurant, and I highly recommend booking in advance, especially during busy times. We were greeted by a friendly host and received excellent service throughout our meal. The food was not only delicious but also affordable. For the first time in a while, I enjoyed a beer that actually tasted like beer, not like cleaning solution. The staff takes pride in the restaurant's location and quality of service. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
Very good quality food served by very friendly and polite staff. Probably a little more expensive then some chain places, but worth it. Look well occupied, but I can suspect that they can fight if really busy.
A superb place to eat, particularly if you are coeliac or have a gluten intolerance. The Mediterranean themed food is top quality, service is prompt but not rushed, and they offer a comprehensive gf menu a la carte, lunch, prix fixe and afternoon tea. Parking available and a clean, gastro pub decor. The only let down I experienced was a startling lack of cider choices only sweet, flavoured Old Mout brand nothing traditional or local. Overall though, highly recommended.
