What Tim Doom doesn't like about Step Inn:
Professional advice: when you see four people walk in and stand at the entrance, it's a good idea to acknowledge them in some way. We waited for 15 minutes without a word from the staff. A simple "We'll be with you shortly" would have sufficed. It wasn't even that busy, with at least four open tables. Perhaps they were understaffed, but honestly, I'd rather be told that they don't want our business than to be complet... View all feedback.
My favorite place to eat in town! Amazing food, service and atmosphere! Kid-friendliness: Good options for the kiddos as well as adults!
My family and I were on vacation and we were on the hunt for a nice place for lunch. We came across the Step Inn and it was very inviting. We were greeted and seated very promptly. The waitress came over after a few minutes pleasantly took our order. When asked she offered some good recommendations so we placed our order. My daughter who also is a waitress in our hometown restaurant, ordered their bowl of chili, seemed like another local favorite as others were ordering it. When it came to the table it was a good size portion and it looked wonderful. After adding crackers to it, she quickly realized it was pretty spicy. After the second taste she was unable to eat it and asked if she could order something else; the waitress replied absolutely, she enjoyed the replacement meal. It came time to leave and the waitress brought our bill to the table and offered to take it up when we were ready to pay. We quickly glanced over the bill and noticed the chili was still on the bill, we questioned the waitress and she was advised by her manager to it leave it on the bill. I asked to speak to the manager and she came to the table. We politely questioned the bill and asked why it still on there as we returned it minus the two bites. The manager told us she said there was nothing wrong with it she had to keep it on the bill. She further explained that it cost her to make the chili there was still an expense, now if it was sour or bad she would have removed it; therefore the bill stood as is. We asked her to remove it from the bill and we agreed to pay. She again disagreed with us but reluctantly adjusted the bill. We thanked them and left. Be advised be for sure of what you order because even if it doesn't taste good, you'll be asked to pay for it regardless!! You should expect better customer service and satisfaction.

Great place to eat, food was great, staff was friendly, atmosphere is what you'd expect from a smaller restraunt, overall great experience!!
Nice little restaurant in cheybogan MI. The service was great, the food was fantastic. Will definitely recommend.
