Intermezzo - Chautauqua

It was great to see a menu that included classic cocktails as well as their own unique creations, but the service really needs substantial improvement and better training.

We made a reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but when we arrived, they wouldn't let us sit outside, despite having open tables available. They claimed there were too many bugs, but we did not see any bugs at all. Meanwhile, COVID-19 is still a serious threat, particularly to the senior citizens who make up a large portion of their clientele. While many may wish to act as if the pandemic is over, it's not too much to ask to be able to dine outdoors at a restaurant equipped with outdoor seating. Some of us are still taking the science seriously.

The waitress was very courteous. I really enjoyed the cauliflower crust pizza topped with figs and goat cheese.

Given that COVID-19 remains a significant threat—especially for their primarily senior clientele, who are at greater risk—I find it concerning. While it's true that many people seem to want to overlook the ongoing pandemic, I believe it's reasonable to expect outdoor seating at a restaurant that provides it. Some of us are still committed to following health guidelines.

We had a fantastic experience with appetizers, house cocktails, wine, and main courses, all of which were delightful. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and the shrimp were incredibly fresh, the grits were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was enhanced with fresh mushrooms. Our food arrived promptly, and the hostesses and waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and just right in their service. For those who have been disappointed by the limited dining options in the area (myself included), I wholeheartedly recommend Intermezzo. It has been sadly overlooked for too long. Give this restaurant a try—you definitely won't regret it!
