Soo good!
Great coffee and great food that won't burn a hole in your pocket.
Along with the lunch menu the breakfast menu is served all day everyday, and dishes all had a homie yet inventive twist to it.
Only area of improvement that I would suggest is the seating. Tables and chairs are placed in a way that you are awkwardly involved in the conversation with the table next to you. But that wasn't minded too much.... View all feedback.
What Patsy McGlynn doesn't like about Houlihans:
Mushroom Benedict was very good! Though the hash brown was very poorly made... coffee was good, which helped too. Open on a public holiday which was nice, but not too keen on the surcharge, think it was and considering they were so busy, I don’t think it would’ve been justified. View all feedback.
Soo good! Grief Grief Great coffee and great food that does not burn hole in the bag. Grief In addition to the lunch menu, the breakfast menu is served daily throughout the day, and the dishes all had a previously involved twist. Grief Only improvement area I would suggest is the seat. Tables and chairs are placed in a way that they are ineptly involved with the table next to them in the conversation. But that was not too intended. Grief Probably the best place for breakfast in Chatwood
It gets a bit 4-5 years ago, as the Chtswd did not flood confusing with restaurants. No bad memories before and rightly when we visited them again at an early Sunday morning. You are welcome to note that your menu has not changed so much, just meal cooked and pretty well presented. Although they land at 90% cap, the front line staff were not without sticks, but quickly on their feet. We were almost immediately shown in a table, and the table was not tidied up long. Grief Grief Spanish omelette 3.5 / 5 Salmon stack 3.25 / 5 Grief A defo return.
We started here, all so often after our favorite Chatswood Cafe-Spot (fresh taste) to eat (fresh taste) closed. I have to say that staff, service and food is all of the highest quality. The menu is really interesting and there is a lot of variety. I love the bacon and the egg Brioche roll with BBQ sauce - it's absolutely delicious and has a great combination of aromas. The hot chocolate is always nice (as well as the coffee, I'm told), plus the desserts are delicious, we had one of the chocolate cake desserts and it was nice, beautiful and rich, but not overwhelming, and that the staff made one Sweet smiley face with chocolate fudge sauce on the plate, which was a nice touch. The staff are always jovial and friendly and strive to make their visit pleasantly. This is definitely a great place to eat it, to sit outside in summer or in winter.
Had a pancake craving to satisfy and didn't want to travel too far so started googling cafes in Chatswood. Stumbled across a local favourite Houlihans and it's been a year or so since we have paid a visit so it was decided and that's not due to the fact it's bad but because I am not much of a breakfast person and the place is always busy so we are never to keen to wait. Houlihans has always been a local institution and its equally busy for breakfast and lunch. Looking at the menu, I was reminded why. The cafe has what people want at sensible prices! Simple! Yes, you have to keep with the times and provide rarely cooked farm food to be "in" at the moment but at the end of the day, don't tell me that you will get snubbed when presented with a beautifully cooked big breakfast, Spanish omelette or Cesar Salad. I am glad they are still busy while these pretentious cafes keep popping up in the area serving air and charging city prices. I was very tempted to put the craving on hold to take on the meat lover breakfast or the eggs benedict but decided to stick with my decision and glad I did. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and the fruit compote and ice cream complemented it well. Perhaps some more chocolate and maple syrup would have highlighted the flavours a bit more. The Poached Eggs Stack with bacon, rocket and balsamic reduction on sour dough was good and it was nice of waitress to suggest that we could swap some items if we didn't like it next time as she saw that my wife left the tomato on the plate. That's good customer service and in fact the staff were all friendly as was the owner at the end of the meal.
