First things first: this place is fabulous. We are from Texas and were missing the comfort foods, so we stopped by to try it out. The food here tastes like home and we can't wait to come back again. The staff is wonderful and we had a great experience. They have something really special here. Things to know: The fish and chicken are fried skin-on, so if that's not your thing, plan accordingly. The macaroni and cheese was cold. My moms pulled chicken was ice cold. The fish was dry and bland Fried entirely too hard. the corn had cinnamon or brown sugar or something very disgusting in it. The corn bread was dry and small as a post it sticker. The greens were okay.. tasted like they were canned rather than fresh. For $75 I could?ve done ALOT BETTER. waste of money. I wouldn?t waste my time going here. The only... View all feedback.
This was my first visit, and I came for lunch. I ordered the Soul Platter, which included fried chicken, coleslaw, cornbread, and deviled eggs. It truly felt like home cooking! Everything was delicious—the chicken was cooked to perfection, and the cornbread had a delightful sweetness with just a hint of vanilla. What a treat! The deviled eggs were deliciously creamy with a blend of mayonnaise and mustard, enhanced by a touch of herbs. I definitely plan to come back again and again! They also offer a family dinner option for four. The proprietor, Shaun, was very professional.
The macaroni and cheese was served cold, and my mom's pulled chicken was ice cold as well. The fish was overcooked, dry, and lacking flavor. The corn had an unpleasant taste, possibly from cinnamon or brown sugar, which made it disgusting. The cornbread was dry and about the size of a Post-it note. The greens were passable, but they tasted like they came straight from a can rather than being fresh. For $75, I expected much better. It was a waste of money, and I wouldn't recommend going here. The only decent dish was the fried chicken. The music was enjoyable, though.
The food is absolutely fantastic! It's soul food prepared with traditional Alabama recipes. I’m from the UK and have traveled all over the U.S., but I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything like this before. Keep up the great work, everyone!
