I have been searching for good Chinese food at a reasonable price and have been wanting to try this place for a long time. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings, sesame chicken, and kung Pao chicken. What Larry Shaheen doesn't like about Great Wall Of China South:
Food was really excellent! Large portions 1 entree was enough for two people. We each ordered one entree and brought home over half the serving. Everything was cooked just right. View all feedback.
The best sesame chicken around!! The servers are like family by this point, we've been coming for years and each time we pick up where we left off. So kind and thoughtful, and the food tea is incredible! Their willingness to listen to occasional criticismor critiques and make adaptations to better the food and business shows an amazing sense of humility and love for the area theyare serving. So much more than just a restaurant!!
My favorite Chinese place in Charlotte! The food is ALWAYS good and they have amazing hospitality. As long as I?m in the area I?ll be their happy customer. Looking forward to many many more weekly visits!
I moved to Charlotte a year ago, and honestly, I haven't tried much Chinese food here because many people mentioned it's not nearly as good as what you find in New York's Chinatown. However, I finally discovered a place that comes pretty close. I really enjoyed my experience at Great Wall of China South in Charlotte, North Carolina. The service was exceptional, and the food was fantastic. The hot and sour soup was a bit bland, but I ordered the fantasy shrimp, which is similar to a dish I used to have in New York called Grand Marnier shrimp. I also tried the cold sesame noodles, and they had an amazing texture with a perfectly balanced sauce. My friend had the trio with garlic sauce, which was also delicious. I will definitely be returning!
I've been on the lookout for delicious Chinese food at a reasonable price, and I've been eager to try this restaurant for quite a while. We ordered steamed pork dumplings, sesame chicken, and kung pao chicken. The dumplings were flavorful with a generous filling. However, the sauce for the kung pao chicken was a bit basic—it was mainly salty from the soy sauce and lacked depth. The sesame chicken had a nice crispiness and wasn't overly sauced, which I appreciated. The flavor was enjoyable, but it leaned a bit too sweet for my liking. On a positive note, the service was excellent! I might return to explore more dishes.
I ordered the Chicken with Cashews, but they might as well call it Mushroom Curry—the amount of chicken and cashews was so minimal that you'd need a microscope to find them! However, the customer service was absolutely outstanding. The host and waitress did a fantastic job, and I think some high-end restaurants could really benefit from hiring them.
