My absolute favorite restaurant in Charleston. Those old bay saltine crackers always have me coming back! I always ask for extras on the side because they're that good! The staff is very hands on at all times. Amazing atmosphere and ambiance. View all feedback.
What Opentable Diner doesn't like about The Ordinary:
It is not unusual to occasionally get a bad plate, even from a good restaurant, so when we got a plate of badly undercooked peel-n-eat shrimp we were not upset, however, when the manager came to our table he was argumentative, condescending and seemed to take our complaint as a personal insult. That we take exception to! Even if the manager had never heard the old adage that the customer is always right, common court... View all feedback.
Wow this was the best dinner in Charleston for us! The food is out of this world ! The cocktails were amazing!!! Our waitress's name is Alison and she is the definition of proofesionilsm in this space!!!! The service here here was on another level!!! Pls go!!! Perfect date night as well
Wonderful! Fabulous! We dined on Oysters, steak tartar, clams with red sauce, the best oyster slider you’ll EVER eat, smoked fish dip, daiquiris, margaritas and fantastic wine. What a memorable evening. We were blessed to have the care of Kian, assisted by Allison. He was professional with excellent timing as well as a terrific personality. Thank YOU again Kian! I’m so bummed I didn’t take any pictures!!! 7.6.24 Truly first class. Thank you Grace for your excellent service. Get the grouper entree. You will want to drink the delicious sauce. Steak tar tar (dreamy) always get the oyster slider. And the yellowfin tuna small plate. We start with a dozen oysters as well. Probably my 10th visit. Perfection. Thank you. Again no pictures!! Next time promise!
Atmosphere would be a 5 if they installed more sound panels, it was pretty loud. The swordfish was the best I've ever had! It was a thinner cut was nice and the seasoning was on point.
The Ordinary comes highly recommended, but I can’t recommend it. The meal was a disappointment. I had the rock shrimp rice bowl. The flavors were not appealing to me. The service was slow, unfriendly. The space is gracious with a 2 story windows, this makes up for some other areas that were lacking. Sitting you so close to the other tables just too close for comfort . I enjoy other people, but when I am eating dinner I like space. I left the restaurant lacking.
The Ordnary is just that... very ordinary. The zucchini caparccio was done well but needed a shake of salt and pepper. VERY few times have I asked for that in an upscale restaurant. The grouper was not tender and a lacked flavor. The peel and eat shrimp were good and served with good dipping sauces. The service was very good and the atmosphere is cool, an old bank. Good selections of wines. Their menus change so perhaps another visit...
