Appropriately inexpensive fresh baked goods. Feels like a bakery, still in the 70s on the music playlist, lights, hard yellow stands and laminated wooden wall cladding. View all feedback.
The croissant I had was one of the largest and firmest I've ever encountered, and it was tasty as well. However, I prefer smaller, flakier, and more buttery croissants. I apologize for giving a four-star rating. Compared to grocery store bread, this deserves at least six stars, but having lived in Europe for decades, I found the bread slightly underbaked and the croissant lacking in lamination.
The bagels here are truly amazing! There's a great hometown vibe. It's just disappointing that the execution of some menu items doesn't quite match their popularity.
The freshly baked goods here are reasonably priced. The atmosphere has a charmingly retro vibe, reminiscent of a bakery from the 70s, complete with a nostalgic music playlist, bright lights, sturdy yellow stands, and laminated wooden wall paneling.
I traveled all over the larger Charleston area sampling croissants to see who has the best, and Normandie made it to my top 3 picks. I would recommend their chocolate croissant, and I really enjoyed the great soft pulp I also got.
