The server provided excellent service, however, the sushi lacked flavor and the restaurant was incredibly noisy, making it difficult for my wife and I to have a conversation. During someone's birthday celebration, the music was suddenly stopped and replaced with loud club music, creating an unexpected and unpleasant atmosphere.
The food and service at this restaurant were great. However, the drinks were a bit small and the music was too loud for our liking. The waitress was very attentive to our needs. I would definitely return, as the sushi was incredible.
I have tried now three times with this restaurant because friends have raved about it and I love the concept of Mexican/sushi. It’s random but accommodating for a lot of different people… But here’s my review and why I give it a mid range review. Somehow, Charleston has turned into the new Nashville. We are overrun with bachelorette parties and instead of being the perfect girls night out spot, this restaurant has morphed into being the one spot where all of the bachelorette parties converge. If that is your jam, this is a 5 Star Place because the food IS really good; they manage to do BOTH Mexican AND sushi really well. However, you will have to scream over the music to your table mates. This is my 3rd time and I keep waiting for the music to be a reasonable level: I love music but this -it’s CLUB volume. Again, if club volume music at dinner is your vibe, this is the place for you. I just feel it’s important to share with future diners that the club volume level of music and the crowds of different themed bachelorettes is not a one-time mishap- it is the norm here, and likely to not change.
Waitress and food saved the day. Had a reservation booked 2 weeks in advance for a table. Table wasn’t ready at reservation time so hostess tried to put us at the bar instead for a birthday dinner. We politely said we reserved an actual table and weren’t going to sit at the bar where you can’t even hold a conversation. They had us wait an extra 20 minutes to be seated. Luckily the waitress was super nice and the food came out quickly after.
