I want to be a bit of a groceriesman and although I have many 5 star reviews, it is difficult to earn one of me. Home Team BBQ; without hesitation gets a 5-star rating. The fried ribs were lawfully one of the best things I ever had. In my life! I will say the sauce that came with it is probably about a 6/10 at heat level (on a scale of normal heat levels). The Brisket Sandwich was also absolutely phenomenal. Beverage... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Home Team Bbq Downtown Charleston:
They offer good selection of bbq pork, brisket and ribs, good variety of sauce as well. I got the brisket sandwich and it was good, notImpressive, but it was decent. Most of the staff are friendly, with the exception of one of the girls that brought us our food, she was asked a question and she responded in a very rude and unprofessional manner. Just be aware that there’s a 3.25 processing fee for all non cash paymen... View all feedback.
I really enjoyed this restaurant my family did as well)! I found it on YouTube as a place locals visit but not a lot of tourists. I wanted to try it while in Charleston because I'd heard about it's mustard based bbq sauce. We don't have that where I live, so I was curious. I have to say I was initially skeptical but not disappointed!I tried the BBQ, brisket and jalapeno sausage platter. The BBQ and brisket was super tender. The sausage wasn't as flavorable as I expected but this place has a bevy of food that won't disappoint. I highly recommend the fried Mac and Cheese with tomatillo sauce. DELICIOUS!! I also enjoyed their greens, regular mac and cheese and baked beans. Also, my mom and son recommend the banana pudding. If you're in Charleston soon, put Home Team on your list if only to try the mustard based bbq sauce. I promise you'll walk away satisfied.Vegetarian options: It's a BBQ place so not a lot of options. I suspect even the collard greens are cooked in meat/fat, but I'm not 100% sure.Kid friendliness: Kids are welcome. We ate at lunch time and saw plenty there. Not sure about the atmosphere in the evenings or late night.Parking: We parked on the street but there was a parking lot near the restaurant as well.Wheelchair accessibility: One level restaurant. Wheelchairs can maneuver. There is also patio seating that can be easily accessed.
Definitely a 5-star experience at Home Team. Came highly recommended by our local hosts and our was fantastic! Carolina style BBQ with all of the sauces, including Alabama white sauce and death sauce on the deep fried ribs. Soooooo good ? Per usual we ordered too much food, but wanted to make sure we tried lots of the goodies. Tomato salad and slaw cut through some of the meat.Good selection of local beers also on tap and by the can. Clean premises, super friendly staff (thanks, Lexie) and sports on TV. A winning combo!
