Our four-course tasting menu, which surprisingly included an enjoyable bonus fifth course, was exceptional—truly deserving of a Michelin star. The flavors were exquisite, the presentation was breathtaking, and the service was attentive and kind. The portions were also quite generous. A big salute to Chef Jan!

I had the pleasure of experiencing the five-course tasting menu at Redbook on December 30th. The meal started with an amuse-bouche of smoked eel, which set the tone for the evening. Next, we enjoyed a raw scallop appetizer, followed by a rich lobster bisque, squab, and venison, and we finished with a delightful pear dessert. Two of us chose the wine pairing, and every selection was exceptional. It was truly a wonderful way to ring in the new year. The venue itself is stunning, exuding a sense of historic charm. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially the scallop appetizer, which I found to be particularly exquisite.

I decided to try Redbook while staying at Hillbrook Inn, and it turned out to be the most expensive meal I've ever had—but definitely worth it. The food was delicious and the portions were generous; I was nearly too full for dessert. The menu changes weekly, so I recommend checking their website before you go. The dishes I tried were exceptional, offering a great variety of flavors. I opted for the wine pairing since I’m not very knowledgeable about wine and wouldn’t have known what to order. If you’re familiar with wines, you could skip the pairing and choose from the wine list, which would cost about half as much as I paid. My server Ty was fantastic—attentive and thoughtful. She noticed I didn’t enjoy sweet wines and adjusted the pairings accordingly, which I really appreciated. If I’m ever in the area again, I’d definitely come back to dine here.

Everything was exceptional, making it a perfect way to close out 2021. The venue is stunning, with buildings that appear to have historical significance. Highly recommended—I especially loved the scallop appetizer.
