All the food is very good but Wednesday is reserved for BBQ The restaurant is hard to find but worth the search. More of a picnic atmosphere.

El Rey taco is one of the only places where we can get cattle livers and onions when they have a special liver night. Please, that it is rarely cooked, get a good meal. All regular menu items are great and really delicious, but BBQ night is a SUPER value and everything you can eat!

Went to the BBQ Rib/Chicken buffet. Some of the best ribs I ever had. Chicken was good too. BBQ beans, Scallop potatoes and salad. All for 100 pesos per person. My wife said that the Margaritas were pretty weak though (my only negative).

A large group of us gathered at El Rey Taco for his Wednesday night BBQ buffet special and had another good experience. Really good service, delicious BBQ and side dishes. Owner Marco Bouleau is serious about meeting customers ' needs--if we call him in advance for something special we want, he is happy to comply. His menu features Mexican food as well as gringo dishes. His imported organic calf liver, smothered in sauteed onions and topped with bacon slices is the best Lakeside, IMHO. And his chamorro! (Not on the menu, but he makes it as a Friday special sometimes and makes it for us anytime we ask in advance. If you get on his mailing list, he will notify you about specials. He also does a great job catering dinner parties. The location up the hill on the street that runs behind Soriana can be a bit of a challenge to find the first time, but it 's well worth looking for.

We have been travelling to the Chapala/Ajijic area of Mexico 8 times over the past 12 years. For the past 4 years this restaurant has been added to the must visit list...usually twice in the week we are there. We always have the chorizo burrito as it is our favourite! The family that owns the restaurant are great and offer wonderful service (speaking English too). It is a typical small run Mexican restaurant. You go for the people and food, not the high end furniture and upscale wine list. (I suggest the 2 for 1 margaritas) But that is the lure and charm of this area of Mexico!! Lunch for 4 with drinks was 450 pesos. We look forward to going back next year when we visit the area.
