What Lucas Magalhães doesn't like about Cantine des Rives:
Very unfriendly waiter, on which it was a lot of effort to clean a table and arrange a chair. Although he could speak the perfect English, he refused to say something to understand his intentions. We went before he could wait for us. View all feedback.
We walked up the mountain to Cantine des Rives so we were cold and hungry. The welcome was just what was needed, warming and very friendly. The food was superb. Plentiful. Swift service. There was a lively buzz to the place, happy and relaxed. Did...not feel any pressure to hurry up. A wonderful place to eat, and spectacular views of Champery.
I don't easily give top marks but this restaurant thoroughly deserves them. The food is local specialities but in a very fresh way. We had fondue which was one of the best we ever had (and we live in Switzerland). The service was very pleasant,...professional and efficient. Prices are fair and the views over Champery are a bonus. We loved this place and heartily recommend it!
This is a fantastic place to do a walk and have a fantastic lunch either inside or outside, weather depending. A friendly family friendly place. Food and service outstanding
The restaurant is in a beautiful and rustic setting perched on the side of the mountains opposite the ski resort of Champery in the Swiss Valais. The weather was wonderful which allowed the meal to be served outside .Drinks and appetizers were followed by veal/chicken with...gratin and dessert was foret noir/mille fouilles all specialities! .Simple but tasty served in a very friendly and efficient manner...Restaurants attraction is definitely for iits exterieur facilities. .The hours we spent was exceptional..
This restaurant is somewhere I frequent regularly, being only about mins from my house. I have been going there from time to time for the last years, sometimes for a full meal, sometimes just for a drink and an ice cream when passing...on a walk in the area. We ate there again this week and the service and food were so excellent that I had to leave a review here. The staff are excellent, well trained, attentive and efficient. With the level of service you would think you were in a star restaurant and not a cantine. It was a warm evening and everyone was eating outside. We were immediately warmly greeted at the entrance by the owner, acting as the maître d' and taken to a table (we had not booked, and it was quite busy) and presented with menus. A waitress arrived almost immediately to take our drink orders. Throughout the evening the staff remained attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was excellent, my guests having large salads of various kinds as a main course. I had the Feuilletés aux chanterelle to start, which was absolutely excellent, followed by a croute au fromage spècial rives (with bacon and chanterelle as well as the usual fried egg, girkin and onions see photo). This is probably one of the best croute au fromage I have tasted and I have tried most on the mountains in the region. The cantine has a play area for kids with various games and a trampoline, and there is an area set aside for Pétanque (bring your own boules) This time I didn't have a dessert, but I have tried several times before their coupe danemark and it is excellent (take the caramel sauce The designation cantine does not do this place justice it is relaxed like a cantine, but the food and service are high end restaurant level. I find the prices very reasonable for the quality provided.
