Foster's - CHAMA
Foster's
Description
Nestled in a charming town, Foster's Restaurant garners mixed reviews, reflecting its complex character. While some rave about its delicious ribs and generous portions of local dishes, others mention slow service and a decline in food quality after the owner's passing. The historic ambiance adds to its appeal, though service inconsistencies seem to persist. Offers span American and Mexican cuisine, satisfying many, despite a few dishes falling short. Patrons appreciate the staff’s effort, particularly in maintaining cleanliness and cozy environments. With ongoing adaptations post-COVID, Foster's remains a decent choice for those seeking comfort food and a taste of local charm.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and I'm not sure why I hadn't tried it before. The restaurant has a good selection of local dishes on the menu and everything I ordered was delicious. We usually start with the nachos, which come in a generous portion. The locals seem to enjoy the food as well.
A solid option for dinner if you're staying in Chama for several days. Be sure and check out their website and maybe even call to see if they'll be open, currently the website says they serve breakfast lunch and dinner from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm and are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Got that? They serve a wide range of American and Mexican dishes; we had the latter. The consensus was that it was good; nothing spectacular but it certainly satisfied our hunger.
The rooms need updating but their cleaning staff is top notch, thanks Connie! They also have tasty food, thanks Mark Felecia! Then there's a cool old cowboy bar from the 1800's, with money stuck on the ceiling, a pool table, jukebox and usually some colorful locals to chat with and all rolled up with outstanding service, thanks Cameron, Phil and Michelle!
We didn't stay at the hotel but went to the diner inside. SUPER slow service, we were there almost 2 hours and the food was not cooked to order. We almost walked out, will never eat here again.
