Secret Thai - Chalmette

The portion sizes are fantastic and the food tastes great, but there’s seemingly no way to order a dish that won’t set your stomach on fire. If they had a moderate spice option, they could probably attract more customers. I’m from San Antonio and have a high tolerance for spice, but even when I order a ‘0.5’ or a ‘0’ here, I still feel like I’m doing myself harm. This place is wonderful, and I’m sharing this feedback because I genuinely want to be able to enjoy dining here.

The portions were enormous, delicious, and truly authentic, but it was WAY too spicy. The heat scale was not helpful at all. Our 0.5 out of 5 was incredibly fiery. I enjoy some spice, but I could barely handle more than a few bites of my Green Chicken Curry. We noticed other diners commenting on the spiciness as well. Next time, I’ll order a 0 with the heat on the side! Food: 3/5

The food was incredible! I was part of a large group, so the dishes came out a bit slowly, but everything else was fantastic. Just a heads-up: the portions are substantial enough for two, so keep that in mind. Also, be aware of your spice tolerance. Overall, I’d rate the food a perfect 5/5!

I ordered a dish with no spice, it was so hot I couldn't taste it, the service felt like they were rushing us out be able to go through as many customers as possible. I will not return here. The egg rolls were soggy from the amount of grease that they were soaked in after being fried.Food: 1/5

This may arguably be the best Thai restaurant in the whole region. All their ingredients are really really fresh and flavorful. Be careful if you're not a fan of very spicy food, asking for medium spice might be more than what you would want. Place appears to be a little bit understaffed right now and it takes a little longer for things to come out and to get service, but worth the wait.
