Secret Thai - Chalmette
Secret Thai
Description
An unapologetically generous, authentic Thai spot serving fresh, well‑seasoned dishes in oversized portions that deliver great value. The bright, clean dining room and open kitchen underscore solid hygiene and attentive service. A recurring caveat: the heat is serious and the spice scale inconsistent—order mild or ask for sauce on the side—and fried items can be greasy or soggy. Ideal for groups craving bold flavors, but spice‑sensitive diners should proceed with caution.

I ordered a dish with no spice, it was so hot I couldn't taste it, the service felt like they were rushing us out be able to go through as many customers as possible. I will not return here. The egg rolls were soggy from the amount of grease that they were soaked in after being fried.Food: 1/5
This may arguably be the best Thai restaurant in the whole region. All their ingredients are really really fresh and flavorful. Be careful if you're not a fan of very spicy food, asking for medium spice might be more than what you would want. Place appears to be a little bit understaffed right now and it takes a little longer for things to come out and to get service, but worth the wait.
Loved the setting of this restaurant as it's very homey. The portion sizes are huge and the spice levels are epic and authentic to the level of Thai hotness ? ?!As a Guyanese who is used to consuming hot foods, I opted for level 2 and and it was perfectly seasoned for my taste. I had the Drunken Noodles (Pad Ke Mao) and loved how the greens were crunchy and fresh. My friend got the Pad Thai Noodles at level 3 and they were ? ? ? and helped to clear any congestion I had. The Thai Iced Tea was huge and oh so good, especially to cool the heat.Highly recommend this sweet lil spot all the way out in Chalmette. Definitely worth the trip and excellent value for your money. There was plenty left for a to-go box!Vegetarian options: Options on which protein to add to your mealKid-friendliness: Definitely family friendlyParking: Parking right out frontWheelchair accessibility: Accessible doorway
I would say, this place makes some of the best homestyle Thai food I’ve ever had if you cannot handle spice, get it on the side don’t play around anyone who knows Thai chilies knows that they’re spicy. Their food is authentic and delicious. It’s funny how people go and try ethnic foods, of which they know nothing of the culture and call the flavors weird or criticize the way that they prepare food.
Literally so delicious and the price makes it even better. BE WARNED. That this place is ridiculously spicy. Coming from someone that keeps hot sauce in her purse. 1.5 is for the extra spicy days where I want that bit of pain. 1 is my go to. And I recommend to friends to get .5 or on the side. Fried egg rolls are MASSIVE AND THICK. Chick satay was cooked to perfection. Cashew stir fry is my favorite. Basil stir fry is amazing. The Chiangmai curry is the bomb.
