Feedback
Nestled in CHAGRIN FALLS, this upscale Italian steakhouse has charmed diners with its delightful atmosphere and exceptional cuisine. While many appreciate the inviting decor and enchanting ambiance, experiences vary. Several guests reported initial frustrations with reservations, including unexpected closures and seating arrangements that compromised conversation amid lively crowds. However, the food is consistently praised, from the fresh arugula salad to noteworthy pasta dishes and tempting desserts. Service experiences can be hit or miss, with some stellar support from attentive staff. Overall, it remains a beloved dining destination for those seeking a memorable meal in Cleveland.
Once we were seated, our waitress greeted us warmly. She was awesome, providing strong recommendations, which we decided to follow. We ordered another round of drinks along with the huge meatball, which was amazing—I’d definitely go back for that alone! She highly recommended the steak, so we all ordered one. We opted for shareable sides: mashed potato soufflé and green beans almondine. The steaks came out cooked to perfection and exactly as we’d ordered. The sides were decent, though I didn’t realize the potatoes had onions or chives in them, which I didn’t enjoy. However, the green beans were great! At this point, the atmosphere had really picked up; it was crowded, but it didn’t affect our service at all. Our waitress suggested the cheesecake for dessert, so we ordered it along with the butter cake. Both were delicious! The butter cake is a must-try—it’s just butter and cake; what more could you want? To sum it all up: if you order anything, make sure it’s the meatball, truffle fries, and butter cake. You’ll be happy no matter what you choose (except for those potatoes—unless you like that mix).
I can’t understand how this restaurant isn’t rated 5 out of 5 by everyone who has visited. Sure, there might be a few areas for improvement, but the food was absolutely incredible—especially the beef carpaccio, which I highly recommend. The atmosphere is fantastic as well. The bartender crafted a delicious custom cocktail for me that was superb. I highly recommend this place! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner
We had planned to have dinner here, but after trying the appetizers, we changed our minds. The Wagyu meatball was tough and dense, and the saffron pasta lacked any seasoning. The drinks were hit or miss; the first round was good, but the second round tasted like they came from a completely different place. Service was extremely slow, and our server had an unpleasant attitude. It felt like we were treated differently compared to the other tables around us. We spent two hours waiting for the dinner course and ultimately decided to leave and go to M Italian instead. That turned out to be the best decision of the night!
Ari, the sweet girl at the bar, overheard our conversation and suggested we celebrate this achievement with some champagne. She kindly brought us two glasses of bubbly. Her warm smile and kindness truly lifted our spirits, and we were so glad we stopped in! When it was time to pay the bill, we discovered the champagne was on the house! Ari mentioned it was the least Jo Jo’s could do and encouraged us to enjoy life and smile every day. We are incredibly grateful for her thoughtfulness and will definitely be back soon! As for the ambiance, what used to be a charming open patio with a view of the beautiful summer sky is now cluttered with a collection of tents that obscure any connection to the outdoors. The atmosphere feels harsh and tacky. It’s disheartening to see how the once-great and well-respected Gamekeeper's has declined.
