The combos make it easy to order if your unsure of what to get. The waiter's do bring your dishes separately, by courses (which is great for me and people who take time enjoying their food). My favorite dishes were the gyu kaku salad and pork belly There was a short seating wait time. Though overall i enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. *Price is for a combo for 2 View all feedback.
What David M doesn't like about Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq:
I did not end up eating at this restaurant because the service was so poor. I left shortly after being seated. The hostess seemed scatterbrained and answered a phone call right after greeting us, telling the person on the phone that there was no wait. When she finally returned to us, she informed us of a 5-minute wait, which turned into 10 minutes before we were seated. She then handed us menus, only to later tell us... View all feedback.
We arrived at the restaurant at 8:50pm and were not seated immediately. It took about 5 minutes for someone to seat us. Once seated, none of the servers acknowledged our presence. A group that arrived after us was promptly attended to. The service for the group was slow and lackadaisical, as were the other servers at the time. Finally, after 20 minutes of being ignored, one server approached us to offer assistance. Unfortunately, when we tried to place our order, we were informed that most of the items we wanted were unavailable. Due to the neglectful service, we had no choice but to leave.
Would not recommend this place to anyone. Had a terrible experience, been wait at the door for seating while nobody ahead of us and all the tables are empty. We finally got seated after 10 minutes then we waited for 20 minutes and no server came up to our table. The server in our section just walked pass our table then served the table that came after us. Then other server took over our table, then told us because they’re closing so we couldn’t do their menu for the AYCE. He went check with the manager and then we still got NO. We ended up with leaving the restaurant but wasted half an hour seating there, no water and nothing.
Arrived at 8:30PM for dine in. When we arrived we saw the sign- no all you can eat My friend was so bummed seeing this is the only Gyu-Kaku location that doesn’t offer the all you can eat option. The restaurant was dead yet service was super slow and they were out of some items. We ordered one of the combo meals for 2people: comes with 1 piece beef tataki sashimi appetizer, miso soup, house salad, 5-6 different meat selection, upgraded rice to sukiyaki bibimbap which is a must! my fave dish here. We opt out on the s’more dessert. Too full and not a huge fan of s’more. Would come back just for the sukiyaki rice pot. Unfortunate the Cerritos location does not offer takeout, dine in only.
The customer service was terrible. The waiter was a kind guy, but they have two new managers who are not well versed in customer service at all. They do not try to accommodate or make up for what they lack compared to other restaurants in this chain. Will not be coming back to this location specifically.
My wife intentionally left no tip on the merchant copy because the initial check came out 134 but they actually charged 158 on the card without explaining anything, so we assumed they included gratitude already. (we didn't order anything else after we got the check. Today we checked the card statements, found out they charged $25 tip so the total came out $183.45 on her credit card statement. I'm disputing this charge anyway but look out your bill/check as they manipulate the tip amount. For sure I'm not returning back.
