Contribute Feedback What Gareth L doesn't like about Lucky Chip:
Not tried lucky chip since disappointed with my last experience in the seabright arms, but sad to say the same old under cooked super salty un loved burger with tight ketchup rations, no cheese on cheese and garlic fries and left with a bad taste : View all feedback.
As anyone who has read my reviews knows, I am a big burger fan. I've always rated Lucky Chip as the second best burger in London so I was really looking forward to this but sadly it wasn't quite as good as I hoped and dreamed. I'm a big fan of wine and as I said before, I'm a big fan of burgers but I just didn't think the combination of the 2 worked. The wines range in value from about £25 to one at £500 although you do get free fries with that. Maybe I'll try it when someone else is paying! The menu is a condensed version of the usual and I went for the El Chappo which was nice although the blue cheese was slightly overpowering the meat which wasn't ideal. The chicken parmesan was very nice and came with a side of the braised lettuce as our server wasn't happy with the usual side (top marks there). I think next time I need my Lucky Chip hit I'll head to the pub. That way I know I'll be happy!
It 's another burger spot! And it 's pretty good mainly because there is actually decent wine to order AND 2-4-1 cocktail happy hour where they don 't force you to chose from a selection of drinks that will rot your teeth imminently. Instead you can chose from sensible cocktails like negronis or margaritas. The burgers don 't come with chips (sorry you lose a star) but they are fairly excellent both in their liberal use of condiments, nicely pinked in the middle meat and their selection of cheese. And they aren 't shy on the addition of pickles. They have chicken wings and a very mayonnaise heavy slaw, along with an array of different chips. Skinny French fries are all you ever need so no requirement for decision making there. Staff have personality and haven 't be to 'hipsterised '. There 's tables but you want to sit in the booths as they 're comfortable for four peeps or just two. If you 're dining solo or not on a date where you 're loudly discussing love and feelings and stuff, you can sit at the bar and watch burgers being flipped. I 'll be back! Please open one in SE London. Thanks.
Great food, very friendly service, big portions, reasonable prices, killer cocktails. What more could you ask for?

After seeing this on a list of London restaurants to try, my fellow burger aficionado and I set out on the Ridley road market on a chilly Saturday night. Lucky chip was a little hard to spot, with not actual sign visible from the outside and tinted glass front! We were welcomed by the friendly staff to a trendy, chill upstairs bar and restaurant. The warmth was particularly great on that evening! We say up at the counter, giving us a full view of the small but efficient kitchen and bar. Menu is simple- about 4 types of burgers (varying degrees of bacon and cheese), fries, steaks and a chicken parmigiana. The starters were the most unique- we tried the onion bhaji corn dogs, which were a miss for me I'm afraid. The batter was flavourful but too spicy and slightly undercooked. There was not a real discernible corn flavour, and the hot dog was a pork dog- I'm a Chicago girl and can't abide that!! Our other starter was fantastic though, taleggio and leek croquettes. Should be more accurately called Mac and cheese bites- delicious and cheesy and gooey and fantastic! My burger was excellent- cooked a perfect medium rare, incredibly juicy and seasoning was spot on. Bun was buttery and pillow soft too. Fries were properly made, skin on and crispy. Staff were great and friendly and super helpful at picking a wine from the surprisingly extensive wine list. Will definitely be back!
