I’ve been here for lunch many times, but came here for dinner for the first time this evening and I wasn’t disappointed. The staff were as lovely as ever, and the food was superb. As a carnivore completing veganuary, I had the “all but” pizza which was so delicious and flavoursome that I would even have it again when I’m not doing veganuary! Though my mum had the margherita with added chorizo and raved at the mancheg... View all feedback.
What Roy L doesn't like about Excellar Café And Wine Shop:
Their Margherita pizzas have no fresh basil leaves on them apart from some dried herb grounds. My espresso was not strong enough for my taste. Their service felt more urbane than local. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.
Been a couple of times before and have usually had a coffee and a slice which was always good.I tried a light breakfast this morning which I thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were friendly and efficient, I will definitely be returning. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Had lots of great meals here over the last few years, fantastic pizzas and great sandwiches (although stingy and overpriced tapas).Today though my tuna melt was distinctly underwhelming. A spoonful of tuna swamped in mayo with a crumble of rather unpleasant cheap cheddar was not the same sandwich as a couple of months ago. Don't downgrade guys. If you need to increase the prices, do, but keep the quality. Service: Dine in Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
Nice spot for a glass of wine in the sun but felt let down with the sharing platter (charcuterie board) we had. For near on £30 the amount of meat we had on the board was totally unacceptable. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
The food is atrocious. The pizza I ordered was supposed to contain basil and sun dried tomatoes. There was basil, but it was ground, dried basil, and there were no sun dried tomatoes, only fresh cherry ones. The zucchini was very thickly cut and hard to bite into. No interaction with staff (we ordered a bottle of wine and we poured it ourselves) so the tip screen when paying felt rude.
