After reading a review in the local newspaper, we decided to check out this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the charming countryside atmosphere, despite its close proximity. If you're seeking a Starbucks or Costa-like experience, this may not be the place for you. It offers a relaxing and casual dining experience with a great selection of food and cakes, and the added bonus of a lovely wooded area for a s... View all feedback.

We walked here this morning from the other end of Harpenden only to find it closed this was in spite of checking on the internet which stated it was open and would stay open until To add insult to injury, the Sorry, closed'...sign was propped against the Open sign. We will NOT venture there again. View all feedback.
After reading a recent review in the local paper, we decided to revisit this cafe. The article mentioned that it was newly opened, and since we had been to the old cafe "The Gun Lidge" a few times, we thought a newly refreshed cafe in that location was just what we needed. However, we were very disappointed. The tables were a hodgepodge, the lighting was poor, and there was no atmosphere. The couple taking orders were sitting at a table on their devices, and it was only when we entered that they greeted us. Our cups of tea were delivered with the tea bags still in them and only a small amount of milk, which we had to ask for more of. We ordered cheese and tomato toasties, and that's exactly what we got - no garnish, no crisps, just a simple shop-sliced loaf cut in half. Definitely not worth the price. We won't be returning. If they want to attract more customers, they need to put in more effort. Our meal was very uninspiring.
We went here for lunch. It had a lovely relaxed feel. Unusual selection of menu options in that there wasn’t a particular theme- but it suited us all. Spaghetti and meatballs for my daughter, sausage and mash for my husband and bacon bap for myself....Would definitely visit again.
We stopped by as we were passing and stumbled upon this delightful café. The coffee was excellent and the snacks were of high quality. The service provided by the friendly lady was also exceptional. I highly recommend this place.
Came here for some lunch with my better half. We both had the the full English and it was really nice. Good quality ingredients and reasonably priced. We was going to have some cake but we over heard the waitress say they were frozen as...they had some left in the freezer. Didnt really fancy thawed out cake even though it looked ok. Will definitely return again.
My Son and I had an all day breakfast here.We had poached eggs instead of fried and my son said they were perfect and he would know as he is a chef! Friendly staff, great food and we will definitely return . We also took a...piece of ginger cake home with us (made on site) and it was delicious. I had a pot of tea with my breakfast and my son had a flat white with his and the coffee was that good he got another to take out Highly recommend this cafe Ample parking and easy access
