This is the best cheese shop I’ve ever been to. They are so helpful and knowledgeable. They were willing to allow me to taste several different cheeses before I fund what I was looking for. I’ll be going back any chance I get. View all feedback.
Great little cheese shop with friendly staff that gave me a lot of detail about cheese I was looking for (Gouda). They helped me find one I liked and taste a few to get the flavor right. The overall location was nice and the atmosphere of the store was pleasant!
We stumbled upon the Cheese Shop in Centerbrook, CT after an outing at the nearby Essex steam engine and boat tour. The proprietors welcomed us warmly engaged my teen daughters in a pretty sophisticated discussion about cheese which they continued to talk about on the way home. My younger daughter later said she wanted to work there. Not only did we have fun tasting the cheeses like visitors in Napa might taste wines, but we sampled and selected some REALLY NICE soppressata, prosciutto, olives, plantain chips thick balsamic. We took home some cheesecake, bananas foster pie and chocolate mousse for dessert. Pura vida. It was a thoughtfully curated shop, but the quality of the food and service really stood out. The authentic reverence for quality and personal pride that emanated from the proprietors is something special. Willing to pay a little more to support this kind of craftsmanship. I really wanted to spend some time on this review because the Cheese Shop deserved this kind of respect.
The owner and staff are truly knowledgeable and will let you sample the cheeses we stoped by to grab a few things for a little charcuterie board and they had an array of unique cheeses, and meats definitely worth to check out!
They are so friendly, helpful and lovely to work with. Absolutely love it here, so many delis hours things.
We stopped here as part of a little cheese trail drive around the Conneticut area. This was a great spot to stop! First off, the selection is massive both in cheeses and other things. They had freezers with take home pies and shelves with cheese accessories (crackers, toppings, etc. . I didn't get the time to look at everything they had, but they had a lot to look at. Beyond the selection, our service was really wonderful. The girl helped us sample a bunch of the local ones and recommended great options based on how we liked each one. We didn't feel rushed or pressured to get anything but the ones we really liked. A great place to stop, even if you've gotta drive a little!
