I was in other restaurants connected to a culinary school, and this was a bit pretentious and lacked the warmth that the students brought to the others. the foot was altogether good, but the pappardelle who had ordered my daughter were disappointing: I suspect they were homemade, in which case they should have been thinner, but above all cooked by. al dente applies only to hard wheat paste: pasta all’uovo as the papp... The salmon was insanely good. Crispy skin and like butter inside. The fingerling potatoes were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Cauliflower appetizer was a little weird though.
What a gem we have in Cedar Rapids! To have access to top shelf foodie choices at less expensive prices and with no compromise in quality is awesome. The staff was welcoming and attentive. Our server was personable yet principled in his service role. And kudos to the chef, our steaks were flavorful, succulent, lightly kissed by char, wrapped in love. Such a blessing to give culinary students an amazingly designed environment to put their skills to the test. This place is truly, A Class Act! Thank you!
I have been at other restaurants associated with a culinary school and this one was a bit pretentious and lacked the warmth that students brought to the other ones. The foot was overall good but the pappardelle that my daughter ordered were disappointing: I presume they were homemade, in which case they should have been thinner, but most importantly cooked through. Al dente applies only to durum wheat pasta: pasta all'uovo like the pappardelle needs to be cooked well. The anima of these ones was hard and the noodles stiff. The other dishes we ordered broiled quail, peanut soup, burger were tasty, although the chips were too salty. The desserts a variation on the carrot cake theme and a bread pudding were the highlights of the dinner.
Service was excellent as was the meal entrees prepared as requested tasty. Pre dinner cocktails well mixed, desserts very tasty, too.
This was my first visit to The Class Act--and won't be my last. Food was outstanding! Cocktails excellent! Everything about it was at the top of my fine dining experiences!
