The food was decent, and I was glad the dining area was open. However, the soap dispenser in the women's restroom was out of order. This is an important KFC location!
The service at KFC was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. However, the menu today doesn't match the quality I remember from years ago. The biscuits were hard and dry, and the chicken lacked the rich flavor it once had. Over 30 years ago, when I worked at KFC, biscuits were rolled and cut by hand, and the chicken was breaded manually. The gravy was made from scratch, and greeting customers with a smile was a key part of the job. It seems the recipes have changed over time, likely to streamline operations, but unfortunately, this has affected both the taste and quality.
It's disappointing that Long John Silver's is no longer available. We ordered the chicken strips bucket meals, and they were very dry and unappetizing. We wanted to get a few cookies, but they only sell them in packs of 12 now. The cookies are no longer freshly baked; they come prepackaged. With all these changes and the staff more focused on chatting among themselves, it's unlikely we'll return to the Cedar Falls location.
I won’t be going back; my experience was quite disappointing. The service at the drive-thru was lacking, and I didn’t receive my side dishes. The food itself was underwhelming, and I ended up being charged more for a non-combo meal than for a combo. When I contacted the manager, Romel, he didn’t handle my concerns well. They have a motto on the wall about treating every guest like a friend at home, but they fell short in every aspect. I’m really disappointed.
To add to my disappointment, there was hardly a quarter-sized amount of sauce on the center of both buns, and I couldn't taste it at all. The mashed potatoes were acceptable, but it's tough to ruin those. The lemonade was oddly warm, even with ice, which was quite unusual. Overall, I found the experience very disappointing, though it didn't really surprise me. I won't be coming back to this location, but I may consider trying the restaurant in Waterloo. Unless you're in dire need of the worst chicken imaginable, I wouldn't suggest this place.
