Ribs Hickory Pit BBQ - Cedar Crest
Ribs Hickory Pit BBQ
Description
Nestled just outside Albuquerque, this BBQ spot offers a mixed dining experience. Many praise the friendly, attentive staff and welcoming atmosphere, especially the outdoor patio and family-friendly menu. The ribs and smoked meats often receive high marks for flavor and tenderness, complemented by standout sides like green beans. Drinks and sweet tea are also well-liked. However, some guests find the food inconsistent—citing overcooked meats, greasy sides, and underwhelming sauces—and note slow service and loud music detracting from the ambiance. Overall, it’s a charming local gem with room for improvement, ideal for casual meals and hearty BBQ cravings.

I waited 45 minutes for a to-go order of smoked meats. The ribs were severely overcooked, dry, and had a tough texture. The Texas toast was undercooked, resembling bread more than toast. The brisket was average but also a bit dry. The sauce was tasty if you enjoy spicy flavors, which I do. Overall, the service was too slow given the number of staff available, and the food was actually worse than what you'd find at larger corporate chain restaurants.
BBQanon! What does it really mean when someone says, "You’re an American, act like it"? And what does the term "globalist" really imply? Some people link it to groups like mine—Jews. (You can visit their website for more information, and if you agree with their perspective, feel free to keep dining there.) I used to live nearby and visited a few times because it was convenient. The food was decent but not outstanding, and the service could be very slow at times. However, now that the restaurant has adopted a right-wing stance, I won’t be returning.
The food here is excellent, and the atmosphere is enjoyable, complemented by outstanding service. There's a wide variety of menu options, along with some intriguing cocktails, beers, and wines to choose from. While the portions aren’t heaped up, they are definitely satisfying, ensuring you’ll leave full.
The staff at this restaurant are friendly, and the location is convenient. They do serve decent well drinks. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to my expectations. It had a microwaved taste, resembling what I might warm up as leftovers at home. The sides felt like they were just heat-and-serve, lacking any genuine homemade flavor. Considering the prices and the overall food quality, I left feeling quite disappointed.
That's what we need... Make America Hate Again. People like you are responsible for many of the problems in this country but offer no coherent solutions which we need to overcome them. Politics are best kept separate from business... if one wants their business to prosper. The food and service at Ribs bottomed out years ago and you've done little to improve either choosing instead to drive current and potential customers away with divisive signage, divisive merchandise, and attitude. Some businesses make money despite their best efforts not to... but it will catch up with them. EDIT 8/10/24: I see that nothing has changed regarding the atmosphere and the food is still underwhelming and EXPENSIVE. The owner's attitude and business model are better suited to Texas or Florida.
