New China - Catonsville

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I ordered a vegetable egg roll, and it tasted as if it had been fried in old, salty oil—there were no vegetables at all! I also tried the vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice, and both were just as disappointing. They were bland and lacked any vegetables. This was, without a doubt, the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I really regret not checking the reviews beforehand.

I ordered shrimp chow mein from this restaurant through the Doordash app. After picking it up and getting home, I realized it was essentially just a cup of broth, some hot cabbage, and a few tiny shrimp. There were no noodles at all, which made me think it must be the wrong dish. So, I returned to the restaurant with my wife, who is originally from China. We showed them the incorrect dish they had given me, and to our surprise, they insisted it was indeed shrimp chow mein. It was quite amusing! I even Googled "shrimp chow mein" and checked images just to make sure I wasn't confused. You can look at the pictures and decide for yourself!

Next, the estimated delivery time was 40 minutes for a small order, but we ended up waiting almost an hour. The food itself was disappointing. I ordered crabmeat wontons, which usually come with sweet and sour sauce, but that was missing. I requested pork fried rice but got plain brown rice loaded with onions and no other vegetables or pork. The orange chicken was acceptable, at least. They also forgot the fortune cookies, which is a common tradition with Chinese takeout. On the bright side, the prices were low, but that’s about the only positive I can mention.

Don't order from here. I ordered a shrimp fried rice and two shrimp egg rolls. The shrimp fried rice was over cooked!!! There were no vegetables in the fried rice!!!! There was no soy sauce in the bag. My experience with the food was dry and very tasteless and the egg rolls was also dry and salty.

General Tso's Tofu is absolutely delicious! This is definitely the best rice house in the area. Each dish, served with white rice, costs around $13. The rice is cooked to perfection, just as it should be. They’re also available on DoorDash! If I had known about this place when I lived in Virginia, I would have happily driven an hour and a half to enjoy it.
