We were two and asked to sit at a table next to the street which was set out as two tables together for four. We were told that it was reserved and shown to a t... read more We were two and asked to sit at a table next to the street which was set out as two tables together for four. We were told that it was reserved and shown to a table for two next to the wall of the building. When we ordered we were told one of our choices was not available and encouraged to go for a special. We were also encouraged to go for a particular starter as the replacement meal had no sides with it. While we were waiting we were asked about drinks. We asked for recommendations and were shown two very expensive bottles that were much dearer than others on the menu. We went with just a glass of normal white wine which was fine. While we were still waiting for the food the table that was supposedly reserved was offered to just two Italian customers so obviously was not reserved. Another table by the street that was free when we arrived was also separated into two sets of two for new customers while we were there. Two of these customers were also put through the same attempt to sell expensive wine. The food took a very long time though to be fair it was cooked very well. The bill took an age to arrive and when I tried to pay by credit card I was told the machine could not get a signal. A customer in front of me had to go off to find an ATM. Fortunately I had enough cash to cover the bill, though it was inconvenient. I don't want to blame the waiting staff who appeared to be doing their best, but we did notice that they were also having to cover additional tables some way away in the University Square. We suspect these extra tables, which weren't there the night before, put unacceptable pressure on the staff. Moral if the tables are out in the Square be prepared for a very long evening and over stressed staff. Or better still go somewhere else. The quality of the food does not compensate and be prepared for pressure to have meals they want you to have.

The waitress was so lovely and explained all the menu option to us and all the deals. We got a free complimentary prosecco each and the food was lovely! I had the cold meat starter which came with cheeses, bread and chutney it was delicious. My partner had the seafood risotto which was also very delicious. Would 100% go back here x

We travelled back to Catania just to visit before we left Italy!
