This outdoor drive-in restaurant, located off US Route 4 along VT Route 4A, serves up a variety of ice cream and hot foods. They offer Hershey's Ice Cream, 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream, frozen yogurt, shakes, floats, sundaes, burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken, seafood, grilled sandwiches, fried foods, and Coke fountain drinks. They even have a special menu item called the Dog Dish for your furry friend. The prices are reasonable, with small cones priced at around $2, sundaes at $3.75, and banana splits at $5. Most sandwiches range from $2.85 to $5.50, with a lobster salad roll priced at $5.95. You can upgrade sandwiches and burgers to include fries and a drink for an additional $3.30. The snack bar has outside order and takeout windows, as well as picnic table seating. I ordered a Steak Cheese Sandwich for $5.50 with grilled onions and peppers, along with a side of Fried Pickles for $3.25. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and tasted similar to fair food. The fried pickle chips had a crispy and spicy cornmeal batter, served with ranch dressing for dipping. The steak and cheese sandwich was piled high with shaved steak, peppers, onions, and melted cheese on a grilled hoagie roll. However, the sandwich was extremely greasy, causing the grease to leak through the paper bag and onto my car seat. Despite the excess grease, I enjoyed the flavors of the sandwich. If you're a fan of greasy drive-in food and affordable ice cream, Castleton Snack Bar is a good pit stop.
