The School House - Castle Douglas

Excellent in all areas. of excellent parking, beautiful environment and tastefully decorated and furnished to good toilets. the ambiente was good, the room was bright and airy and of a pleasant temperature. two stunning long burners that add a touch of classy and cozy welcoming atmosphere. all staff were very friendly, attentive and accomodating and all were well presented and wearing masks right. the menu was well prepared with a good selection of food and drinks from local suppliers. they have a good choice for all palate and catering for those who have diet requirements. our order was taken in time. I chose the car and I wasn't disappointed. with a selection of two meats, 3 vegetables, boiled and roasted carrots, gravy, yorkshire puddings and ride my meal was hot and tasty. the bark was made beautiful, tender, melt in her mouth, certainly a good quality cut of meat. excellent yorkshire puddings and perfect roasted potato. the desserts and sweet offers were all extremely tempting. all homemade and from a high standard. reasonable price for quality and quantity. the old school house is definitiw a visit in the beautiful rural environment of dumfries and galloway worth.

Extensive menu which catered for all tastes. Home baked cakes and scones etc looked delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have already booked a return visit to sample the home baking.

Went with my family, we are up on holiday. Read alot of amazing reviews about the place and we weren't disappointed. The food was amazing and the puddings were to die for. The staff were so friendly and helpful.

Lovely building, you can really imagine it as a local school, but it has been modified to a high standard. From our welcome on arrival to our departure it was a wonderful experience the food was excellent too!
