Contribute FeedbackNestled in the heart of Kirkcudbright, this café presents a mixed bag of experiences for diners. While some patrons rave about its friendly service, delicious breakfasts, and notable gluten-free options, others express disappointment with the food quality and portion sizes—highlighting a menu that appears to rely heavily on frozen items. Despite the appealing atmosphere and street-side seating for people-watching, criticism surfaces regarding high prices for underwhelming meals. With a charming ambiance and loyal local clientele, the café seems to have its strengths, yet prospective diners should weigh the value against their expectations for quality and variety.
This was our first visit to Kirkcudbright this was the first café that we found after parking. The staff are super friendly the food drink choice is pretty good too. I'm definitely returning the next time I'm in Kirkcudbright.
Service fine. We both ordered soup and a sandwich. Worst soup and sandwich we’ve ever had. Broccoli and Stilton soup was that thick you could stand the spoon in it and definitely not hot enough. Sandwich dry and tasteless and hubbys coronation chicken filler was so salty he couldn’t eat it (which is not like him to leave food! When I went to pay I mentioned the salty indelible sandwich and all I got was “sorry that’ll be £19 please”… Over priced for what we got and not a great experience. Unfortunately we won’t be back.
Visited on the day of the Kirkcudbright Tattoo, it was busy inside so we sat outside with our wee dog. We ordered the local burger it came with salad and chips and it was absolutely delicious, piping hot served on a proper morning roll with lovely crisp fresh salad and coleslaw, it was presented well and I was impressed. Service was friendly and when there was a black cloud overhead with a spit of rain we were offered the last table inside, we persevered outside the sun came back out and it a beautiful hot day (it is Scotland after all) When we are back in the area we will definitely visit again.
We visited on a very busy Sunday lunch. They’re very helpful regarding gluten free options. I had Haggis Loaded Fries with a Peppercorn Sauce, gorgeous. My wife Omlette and chips. Great cakes too. I’d really recommend this friendly cafe.
Absolutely lovely wee cafe. Staff are young and friendly. Menu is simple, but check out the specials board for more complex dishes. Food was made quickly and efficiently and tasted delicious. We had a variety of dishes, a toasty, scampi, veggie burger, an omelette. All were made really well and so tasty with beautiful fresh salad accompaniments. Coffee was great, cakes and desserts looked fab although we were stuffed and couldn't manage them. It was really busy too, always a good sign.
