Castelnou, a tiny medieval village in the mountains, our 'home ' for one night. This restaurant was one of two recommended by a local B&B owner. We certainly picked the right one. Honest local cuisine with seasonal ingredients. I had the most tender meat I 've ever tasted in a subtle tasty sauce. Have been visiting France en vaccances for past five years and this is my worst experience to date. We were a group of four who arrived at 1pm without reservation. The one waitress told us in no uncertain terms that she was already rushed off her feet with three other tables to attend to 12 other covers and that we would need to wait at least half an hour for us to place our order. Unfortunately the lunchtime special of the day which tempted us in had finished and the other menu offerings were a bit limited. However we tried the traditional meatballs served over beans with olives and the dish was very tasty and a large portion. The other dish of black risotto with seafood was not very good though as no taste. The service was very friendly and would try this restaurant again if ever in the area.
This was the worst food in France. We are not the travelers that have had a bad experience once. This restaurant was our treasure the first time we found it. They had expertly prepared food that could rival any chef and it was truly a memory we held for many years. The past few times we visited have been less than quality but this past week we have had enough. The food was nearly inedible. I ordered lamb and the dish was so full of inedible things I sent it back just as it came. There were bones the size of oranges with no meat to speak of. Whole bay leaves, Garlic with still the paper on it, and it was all muddy grey with wine over many hours. I am a gourmet cook and I can tell you that the fish with curry was disgusting. The price for this slop was inexcusable and it seemed that they ceased to have a restaurant of any quality but still pretended to serve dinners to guests. Our family will NEVER go there again and the memories of such good food have been erased by an overly bubbly server trying to cover up the disgusting food that they served for beaucoup bucks. Certainly an embarrassment to the guests we had invited with us who said ' This food would never pass in a restaurant in Switzerland where they were from. Good riddance D 'ici et d 'Ailleurs.

Atterris par hasard à cette adresse en famille lors d'un repas du midi, nous ne pouvons que recommander cette adresse. Une fois passé le porche principal du village il suffit de remonter la ruelle et in se retrouve juste devant.Une cuisine soignée, un accueil charmant et surtout une volonté de satisfaire le client. Le cadre est superbe avec notamment la cour intérieure.Cuisine catalane locale ou traditionnelle avec des tarifs raisonnables.Un petit plus pour les familles avec au RdC un coin jeux enfants.A recommander, bon appétit !
